Rook
| THE SQUIRE |
Dread-Folly Dragon About A giant curled claw jutting from a glacier was used to create this dragon. He is as honorable as he is naive, always seeking an honest and true path. Rook was found by Dereth during one of the times Dereth came out of retirement with a group of others dragons. Dereth at the time had been confused by the young looking yet unnatural dragon. Rook was frightened and rather far from home but Dereth looked him over and offered him help. Rook didn't know where his home was, he wasn't sure he had one, he had no memories of where he came from. Dereth said he could travel with them then and either find a home on the way or even come stay with them at their tavern. Rook knew he didn't want to be alone so he followed the group and watched as Dereth charged into any battle that presented itself, how the others followed him. Rook watched as they brought down massive enemies that he was sure they wouldn't win against. Then, eventually they took him to the tavern they told him about. Rook was shown great kindness by those in The Silver Wolf Tavern, though never strayed far from Dereth, much like a hatchling in how he acted. It was obvious Dereth didn't mind acting as the imerpial's guardian and father figure, wanting to encourage the natural honor the young dragon had while protecting him from those who would take advantage of his trusting and naive nature. It wasn't long though, that the truth came out. Rook had grown comfortable living with Dereth and the others, he even didn't mind Korj that much and she didn't seem to mind him. Each dragon he met at first seemed put off by him but warmed up thanks to Dereth being there. Then the priests came home and things fell apart. Kenrie had realized that Rook wasn't natural, he shouldn't be in this land, he should be dead. She started to pour herself into the research of what could have caused him to exist, and soon informed everyone of Rook's unnatural past and what he truly was. Rook panicked at first, thinking he might run but Dereth pulled him to the back of the lairs and asked him simply what he knew. Rook told Dereth everything, how he didn't remember dying or being created like this. He remembered fear and confusion and then finding Dereth. How he had these feelings that were just with him but he didn't want to hurt anyone, certainly not anyone there. He didn't mean to be a monster in the eyes of the healers. Dereth had simply nodded and told him he wasn't a monster, he was family. Rook watched as Dereth talked the healers down and made it clear that Rook stayed, that he was one of them as long as he wanted to be. Ever since Rook has been a member of The Silver Wolf Tavern. He has wanted nothing more than be like Dereth who he sees completely as a father. He's still childlike at times, wanting to learn new things and has no desire to learn anything else about how he was made or why. While Rook had plenty of friends within the Tavern, even the healers over time relaxed around him and treated him like the rest, he seemed to understand he wouldn't ever have a mate. This saddened him greatly but he wasn't sure if something like him could even have hatchlings, or if anyone could accept what he was. The others saw as he moped around for a while and finally asked him about his problem. It didn't help that it began so soon after Valentine's day. Dereth nodded in understanding then disappeared to the archive. He set every dragon he could to work to find any answer they could. Would it be possible for something like Rook to find love. Messengers and adventurers were given all the information and sent out to search, to spread the word. They would cheer Rook up, they would try to find someone willing to love him. It wasn't long until the adventurers returned with someone who was eager to meet Rook. When Rook saw Aquila he was certain that his heart was beating as it leapt. She looked to be made out of stars, her voice was that of something from another world. He couldn't think of what to say, and in fact struggled to find words for days as she spent her time at the Tavern. Eventually he did start to speak and Rook found himself falling in love with her. He was dead, she was some sort of celestial presence, it was odd but he found he liked odd. Overtime Rook felt like he fully belonged as a member of the Tavern's clan. The healers stopped looking at him odd and Dereth was always there if he had any doubts. It was then that Rook ran into a strange Guardian who was like him, Cimmerian. Cimmerian was less confused than Rook had been when he first woke up, rather Cimmerian wanted destruction, he craved it. Rook blocked him and pleaded with him, calling him brother. A Dread-Brother of sorts. When he convinced the guardian to stop his rage and listen, Rook knew he had a new task at hand. He would have to teach this other Dread-folly dragon what it meant to be alive again and how not everything needed to be destroyed. It was a monstrous task but one that Rook was up for taking. I'll be who I want to be, not what they made me. Dragon Bio Template made by Hailey. :) You may put pairing card here |
