Biography
Tracer's best friend in the lair, and a caring Snapper who always wants the best for the ones under her care.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Liliani walked down the Lightning Flight desert, nothing but the sounds of her footsteps
accompanying her. She had been walking for days at least, but she barely realized it- she was a
Snapper, after all, and they were good at endurance. She lifted her head into the air, feeling the
slight breeze rush past her face.
She had no issues with the desert; she was from the Earth Flight after all, which was mostly
similar. She was never into traveling like a lot of other Snappers were, she would rather adventure
on her own paths and take as many breaks as she would like. She left her Earth clan early on to
travel to Arcane, and she was happy there for a long while. It was only once the warped magics of
the area got to her that she decided she had to get out of there. She was a little too late- her body
was changed, and she ended up with multiple pink Arcane eyes over her body. She could see out
of most of them, but overall, they were uncomfortable and weird to have. She left her apparel
behind and set off after that without much fanfare.
She was walking in this desert thinking about life, the universe and everything when she saw a
dragon in the distance. This dragon was a Nocturne- a breed not commonly seen in this area. The
other dragon was mostly orange and white, and whatever cloth apparel they had on seemed to
have been torn into shreds that barely hung from her body. She was thin and looked like if she
hadn’t seen food in days. Liliani stopped in her tracks, looking over the strange dragon who at the
moment was looking at something on the ground. She was probably a scavenger- there were a
bunch of those around here. Scavengers usually wandered the desert, taking what they could
find, even if it belonged to another dragon. They were known for fighting and taking from all who
came too close and selling suspiciously acquired goods in small marketplaces. The Snapper
knew some of the codes they used to determine between friends and enemies, but she usually
stayed away from them anyways.
But there was something about this Nocturne that made her think twice. She didn’t look like the
usual scavengers at all- she didn’t look like she had anything with her to carry items in, and she
barely had any desert protection- if she had any at all. Liliani came closer to her, watching her hop
around on a ledge before making her move.
“I don’t have anything you may want, but I offer assistance.” she said in a different language, the
usual code for ‘I don’t have anything you can take from me, but I can offer you something’.
The Nocturne turned towards her, looking mostly confused. “Ah- okay?” she said, hopping
towards Liliani as if she didn’t really know how to move. The dragon looked kind of confused, as
if she didn’t actually know what she said but that she could tell the Snapper wanted to help.
“So…what is it?” Liliani realized that the other dragon probably wasn’t a scavenger- and probably
hadn’t been around here before either.
“Do you know your way around here?” the Nocturne asked, confirming Liliani’s suspicions.
“I’ve been all over Sornieth.” She said to the Nocturne, hoping that she could help this lost
dragon. “I can probably help you find where you need to go.”
“Alright, thanks!” the Nocturne said, flapping her wings. “But uhh…what’s Sornieth?”
Liliani was shocked by the question. What’s Sornieth?! “Sornieth is the place we live in.” she
said, trying not to show how she felt. Even hatchlings knew they lived in Sornieth!
“Oh, right!” the Nocturne said, acting as if she forgot. “Agh, must have forgotten that.” She
smiled at Liliani as if nothing was wrong. It wasn’t working- there was a slight look of panic in this
dragon’s eyes, as if she really didn’t know. Who was this dragon?
“Where are you trying to get to?” she asked the Nocturne, already knowing what the answer
would be. This dragon didn’t know- it was like she was thrown out of a completely different
universe and tossed into the middle of the desert. Well, either that or she just randomly forgot
everything about her life.
“Do you at least have a name?” Liliani asked, testing out her second theory. The Nocturne was
about to answer, then paused suddenly. Liliani thought she forgot her name when she spoke
again.
“Well, yeah.” She said, looking slightly uncomfortable. “The team called me Tracer.”
Liliani nodded, watching the other dragon jump from foot to foot. Her name sounded like
something a dragon would be called in Sornieth. Maybe the first option was out too, and this was
just a strange young dragon. She was about to ask another question when something Tracer had
said stopped her in her tracks.
“What team are you talking about?” she asked, confused. If she was with some kind of team, why
was she lost out here? Most Lightning dragons knew landmarks around the desert just in case
they got lost in an unfamiliar area, so she definitely couldn’t be from Lightning. She looked at
Tracer’s eyes, noting the Arcane pink. “Do you come from Arcane?”
Tracer paused, probably trying to think of how to answer the question. “Ah- yes, I mean, no! I’m…
not from Arcane. The team is also not from Arcane.” She started hopping around nervously again.
Liliani sighed. She had no idea where this dragon was from or who she was, only that she was
definitely confused.
“Do you know where your team is?” she asked her, already knowing what her answer would be.
“…No.” Tracer said after a slight pause, staying still and looking down at the sand. “I have no idea
where they are, where I am, or how I got here.” She was much quieter, and Liliani felt bad for her-
something definitely happened to this young dragon.
“You have Arcane eyes, so you must be from there.” Liliani said, trying to keep her voice calm in
order to relax the Nocturne. “I know where it is; I could take you over there, if you want me to.”
Tracer looked up, then nodded once. She had this look of intense worry on her face, as if she just
realized something that she didn’t like. Liliani started to walk, and Tracer followed her, wings still
pinned sharply against her body. She was barely prepared for life in the desert; the only thing she
wore that may have been of help was the visor over her eyes. She was covered in sand, and didn’t
have the distrust of other dragons like many did nowadays. Dragons would see another of their
own species and stay away from them, or they would fight over just seeing each other. It was
terrible, and Liliani was always happy when she saw someone who wasn’t like that. It was yet
another reason why this Nocturne felt…weird for some reason, from her appearance to the things
she said. Liliani didn’t like the thought of separating with her; she only knew this dragon for a
few minutes, but already felt close to them.
It was a while later when they crossed into Water. They got a lot of strange looks from resident
dragons; a Snapper and a sand-covered Nocturne, walking about like if nothing was wrong?
Nocturnes were rarely seen out of Shadow- they were rarely seen at all. And this one wasn’t even
trying to mimic the Snapper! The smaller orange dragon wasn’t matching her gait or anything-
just following behind, showing none of the usual Nocturne behavior. It was weird, and they all
stared after them. Liliani tried not to make eye contact with them, knowing why they were
watching them. Her multiple eyes and Tracer following behind were an unusual sight, and
dragons were known to stare at unusual sights. She was happy once she saw the Water border,
as she was ready to get out of there. Nobody likes being stared at for a few hours.
“Alright.” She told Tracer, who was still following behind, breathing heavily. Liliani had forgot that
other breeds weren’t as accustomed to long travel as Snappers were. “Plague Flight is ahead of
us, and it’s…not very safe for non-residents. There’s a high chance that you may catch
something.” She hoped that nothing happened to the Nocturne; she didn’t look very resistant to
disease, and Plague was full of it. Tracer took one look at the lands ahead and instantly took a
step back. “Ah- how about…over there?” she said, pointing to the Wind Flight in the distance.
Liliani followed her gaze, looking at the wind-filled plateau versus the dark, diseased place. “We
can’t go that way.” Liliani responded, shaking her head. “The only way from Wind to Arcane is
across the water, and I can’t fly.” She shook her small wings.
Tracer looked back towards Wind, then to Plague. “Could we go there anyway, though?” she
asked, taking another step away from Plague. “I don’t know about you, but I am not going
anywhere near that.” Liliani smiled; Tracer seemed to be warming up to her. “I don’t want to go
there either. We could stop off around the Wind Flight for a while, maybe find a boat and get to
Arcane that way.” Tracer paused, seemingly thinking about what she just said. She then nodded,
and they headed off in the direction of Wind.
That morning, they found a nice place to sleep on the Reedcleft Ascent that didn’t have too many
cold winds streaming through it. Tracer wrapped herself up in her wings, and Liliani covered
herself the best she could and tried to sleep. She knew that Snappers weren’t supposed to sleep,
but one time when she was a hatchling she accidentally drifted off after a long day of traveling. It
was great, and she slept every night she could. Tracer’s tail was on top of her, and she tried to
shake it off. The third time Tracer put her tail back on her, she decided that her tail could stay.
That morning, Liliani woke up freezing cold due to the wind and with one Nocturne tail on top of
her. For a moment she had no idea who the other dragon was, but quickly remembered her. She
got up, letting Tracer’s tail fall to the floor and looking around. Everything seemed calm; there
were no sounds except for the blowing of the winds…and the sounds of dragons talking nearby.
She tapped Tracer a few times, and the smaller dragon flopped over. “Tracer, get up.” She said,
poking her again. The Nocturne opened one of her eyes, and struggled to her feet. “What time is
it?!” she asked, and Liliani looked upwards.
“Morning. Come on, get up. I hear some dragons nearby, I’m going to check it out. You coming?”
Tracer nodded, and walked to a nearby water source where she threw herself in to wake herself
up. The dripping wet dragon then jumped on top of Liliani, putting her wet forepaws on her head.
“Tracer, no! Get off my head!” Liliani said, but she was laughing at the same time. For this
dragon to have no idea of where she is or what happened to her, she’s still in good spirits. Liliani
had never met any dragons like this; with possibly sad backgrounds but showing almost no sign
of it. Tracer took this as the sign to stay on, and dry herself with Liliani’s wings.
They headed towards the voices, and ended up at the edge of what seemed to be a large clan.
There was a fountain in one part of it, and it was surrounded by small wooden houses that
seemed to slightly sway in the wind. A pathway led to what looked like the clan center, with a
ledge on one side with another house on top. A few dragons were outside, one of which was a
darker blue Spiral who was speaking to a pink Skydancer. Liliani stepped into the clan, looking at
the Spiral. She thumped her foot on the ground once, and the dragon turned to her.
He was standing on his hind legs, a way of walking that Liliani had seen often around her travels.
It was the easiest way for Spirals to walk with that long body, and their tails were good for
balance. He was about her height on his hind legs, but he was definitely longer. He was a blue
noodle.
“Hey, is everything alright?” the Spiral said, waving to Tracer, who waved back.
“Yes, everything’s fine. We were just wondering who was around here.” Liliani said back, feeling Tracer jump off her back.
“Ah. Are you two travelers? We’ve been getting a lot of those lately. If so, you can stay for as long
as you like.” The Spiral said, motioning for them to follow him. He led them to two empty houses,
both with some simple furniture inside. “You can stay in this one, and the Nocturne in the other.”
He said, smiling at them. Liliani nodded, and went inside.
The Spiral introduced himself as Waverider, leader of this as-of-now nameless clan. The two
dragons walked around the camp, talking to other dragons in the clan, trying some of the food
and joining in music night. Tracer dragged a yellow Wildclaw who was trying not to participate
onto the dance floor, who seemed annoyed at first but was pretty cool with it afterwards. Liliani
felt relaxed there, and eventually mustered up the courage to approach Waverider.
She told him about Tracer, and how she didn’t know what Sornieth was, seemed really confused
and had no idea where she was. Waverider nodded as if he had seen this before.
“Probably like the others we have here. Most of this clan is actually made up of dragons like that.
They have no knowledge of the flights or anything, and they remember events that never
happened in our history. They’re pretty nice dragons though, there’s nothing really wrong with
them- with a few exceptions, some of them worry me.” He stopped for a moment, watching Tracer
run around the camp. “You’re lucky you found her, you know. A whole bunch of them probably
end up far from here. I don’t want to know how many of them died out there.” He turned back to
Liliani, smiling again. “Anyways, are you still planning to move on tomorrow morning? We do
have extra space, after all.”
Liliani thought about his offer. This did seem like a nice place to live- Wind was always a nice
flight, calm and without a lot of the dangers of other flights. This clan seemed alright, the dragons
seemed friendly, and if Waverider’s words were anything to go by, the dragons were friendly too.
There was none of the weird staring, none of the sudden fights…none of the weird customs and
breed habits.
“Well, I guess we can stay.” She said, already knowing that Tracer would be fine with it- she was
trying to start a conversation with a fae. “You’re fine with it, though? Me with my extra eyes, and
her with her…energy?”
Waverider waved his claw at her in a dismissive gesture. “Nah, no issue. I’m fine with weirder
thing like that.” Liliani smiled at him, and relaxed. “I’ll get you in the clan list, then? It’s just a list
of all the dragons we have here.” He asked, tilting his head.
“I’m good with that.” Liliani said, and went to get Tracer away from socializing. It had been so
long since she had a clan…this would be a nice change for her.
