Standing tall and regal, a skydancer watches over the pit formed between the mountains. She bears the marks of the guard- she looks down upon the prisoners with a distate in her eyes. Though her scales and feathers glimmer like pristine ice, her heart storms and glowers with resentment. Damao was named for her immaculate beauty. Though fair in appearance, she is as cold as her homeland. She never says more than what is needed, and speaks directly without the worry of hurting feelings. Her life as a soldier shows in her pragmatic, and realist outlook. Damao seems eternally gloomy, and has been seen lashing out at others. Though her exterior is hard and unwavering, her insides churn with emotions she cannot hold back. Damao resents her marriage, but has never been able to hate her husband himself. Her heart lies elsewhere, and being torn away from her beloved only causes her pain. Forbidden from transpiring with dragons outside of the Icewarden's domain, she can only pray that the letters she entrusts to her dearest friend will not be found. The stress of such a situation has taken its toll on her. She is perpetually tired, but holds herself to nothing but perfectionism. She finds it hard to keep up her wit when she is so unhappy. Her heart truly belongs only to Arrie. The true Damao is witty, open, and rather warm, considering her position. She’s never been as optimistic as Arrie, but she was never so cold until she lost her. Those especially close to her know she's actually quite the flirt, and lives for the affection of beautiful ladies. |

From birth, Damao was marked as a keeper of the Icewarden. She never knew her mother, only her father. He worked as an ambassador for the Southern Icefield, bringing his daughter with him on his extended trips. He spent most of his time along the coasts of the Sea of a Thousand Currants, able to easily communicate with the other ambassadors. No matter what was said, he was never able to be swayed from his loyalty to his home. Damao was brought up with a similar idea, but she was much more willing to hear others out. Before even that, she knew her heart would belong to another female. In her time there, she met a glimmering skydancer. From the time they met, Damao was caught by her. She courted her, and the two would be smitten with each other. Even after Damao returned home, they exchanged letters. She eagerly looked forward to seeing her beloved every time she returned, no matter how briefly she stayed. Despite her best efforts to keep her relationship hidden, her father would learn of it in time. He was outraged that his daughter, a chosen one by the Icewarden himself, had left her heart in a stranger's land. He locked her away in their own home, and set out to find a proper mate for her. Damao was given away to the son of some noble, forced to stifle the feelings inside her. Though she had originally planned to become a judge, she was given an ultimatum by her father. She would become a soldier, and swear to isolation, or to be thrown from her own home. Even after her enlistment, she couldn’t just leave Arrie behind. Placing all her trust into her childhood friend, she still exchanges letters with her love. |
