Biography
XXXHELLEBORE THE EMPRESS |
Before falling into the valley, Hellebore had been a ranger exploring the lands of the Gladekeeper.
Ever since she was a hatchling, she had been a restless soul. She had been content growing up in the outskirts, yes, but never felt truly satisfied. She found herself more and more drawn to the wildness of the ranger corps as her life drew on, the allure of travel and new scenery capturing her heart and engulfing her head in a blaze of want. Bidding farewell to her parents, Hellebore packed what little food she could carry (at the time, she'd barely come of age!) and set out to explore, her body light with wonder.
Of course, nothing is ever so simple.
Three years into her life as a ranger, Hellebore pledged herself to the Gladekeeper. And with this pledge came enemies, the glowing green of her eyes a beacon that other dragons followed with either curiosity or disdain. Such disdain always ends up breeding war, and Hellebore fought alongside many warriors in a petty war against a few hundred dragons of the Arcane flight. The two flights would go on to make peace with one another, but Hellebore was not so easily placated.
Spurred on by the stubbornness of youth, she and a young male from Starwood Strand decided to battle independently from their corps. Nursing wounded prides makes for cranky, temperamental dragons, and neither wanted to listen to reason. The fight would last three days in total, only ending when Hellebore was forced to turn and flee from her opponent, lest she risk losing her life.
And that's how the young dragon found herself soaring over the Viridian Labyrinth, specifically Opulence Valley, wings weak and legs bloody and sore from battle. Hellebore crashed into the earth, sending dirt and ash flying in every which way, and she slept for many years. As life began to reclaim the valley, so did the wildlife. A certain cheeky fox in particular seemed to grow extremely fond of Hellebore, nestling against the dragon's warm side at night, and sunbathing on her scaled stomach in the midday. It also brought her food and fed her while she slept, and on occasion could be observed licking the dragon's wounds!
It's needless to say that when Hellebore woke up, the fox remained.
To be blunt, Hellebore found it to be more trouble to keep around than it's worth. It was messy, disobedient, and worst of all - persistent. She couldn't shake the darn thing, no matter what she did! And so eventually, the fox became a part of her new life, as did the feud with the Plague flight, and the keeping of the grounds.
