You enter a nicely constructed wooden hut. The stars twinkle overhead. Not a single cloud was in the sky. You suddenly hear mumbling in the hut. "Hello?" Your voice echoes back to you, unanswered. The muttering continues. Your clawtips tap the black stone floor. You notice strange purple fire light in the reflections. "Anybody here?" You call out again. This time the chanting stops. You hear a small growl around the corner, no doubt from a pearlcatcher. As slowly as possible you turned the corner. You help as many green eyes peer at you from the purple fire light. A head appears with shiny purple ram horns along with a sooty colored rhino-like horn all pearlcatchers have. This one is dressed in a lovely glittering violet gown. Lovely ribbons drop down from her transparent wings like water. The pearlcatcher's whiskers are unusually long and dance in front of you. She seems to be holding a glass ball of sorts. "I know who you are. My pearl told me." She whispers to you in a ghostly voice." "You do?" You voice quivers. "Yes, but more moments ago I had no idea who you were. My aunt, Stargazer, told the tribe that Vela saw you in a vision, but now you are here in front of me. Vela didn't tell the clan your name or what you look like, but my pearl just now told me." She pauses to take a breath. "My name is Arabella, the only shaman of this clan. I speak to those living and dead. I can also sometimes speak to dragon breeds that have never been seen before. I have seen many of them." "You can really do all that?" You gasped. You can't even imagine what another dragon breed might look like. Suddenly, thunder booms overhead despite the cloudless night. The purple flames simultaneously get extinguished. You hear whispers in your ear. They seem… angry… "Oh, you should leave now!" Arabella stammers while quickly shoving you out of her hut. "What is going on?" You quiver. "Angry spirits. They must have sensed you. I'm sorry that are meeting had to end. I enjoyed seeing a new face!" Arabella smiles and all of her green eyes blink before she rushes back into her hut. You walk away to find a place to rest for the night only to take one last look behind you. You sigh in relief as the purple flames reignite themselves. |
