Biography
Crankcase was found unconscious in the Tangled Wood by Tagan's scavenging team, after an unfortunate encounter with a darktouched chimaera. He'd sustained a severe head wound in the fight, which Spinister battled to stabilise before flying him back to the lair. Thankfully, Crankcase was not yet fully grown, or the journey across the sea would have been far more difficult for the Guardian.
Once the group returned, Ratchet and June took Crankcase into their care and tried to minimise the damage to his head, but the wound had been infected by the chimaera's venom and would not properly heal. The Imperial was required to bind it permanently to avoid further damage. Perhaps because of this inconvenience, he's always been somewhat bad-tempered.
His mood wasn't improved much when he was invited to choose a familiar and a chimaera took a shine to him.
Now, Crankcase is a permanent member of the scavengers, with a penchant for finding odds and ends that can be used to make mechanical gadgets. He may have been born in Shadow, but he's certainly made himself at home in the Shifting Expanse.
