Dragons who spend the majority of their lives physically distant from society and dependent on the cooperation of a small group of others for mutual survival do not particularly fuss about conforming to general cultural expectations. Cappy behaves like a seabird, so he's a seabird. He's also a good omen and a beloved member of the crew of every single boat he visits, whether he's present or absent, and as assaulting fellow crew members is a crime anyone who hurts a hair on his tail for any reason may find themselves summarily keelhauled. (Several boats he's visited, independent of each other, are working to coax him to accept a little hat on his head to make his crewdrakeship clear. It's slow progress, but as his extra-large ears don't have quite the same function as an extra-large beak, he is highly susceptible to fishy treats.) |
