B O R N to an unlikely pair: Malykri and Kiawe, brought together and then separated by fate, and finally reunited in the service of the Flamecaller. As an exalted daughter of Fire, Verehren possesses both powerful fire magic and impressive control over it. She uses this ability in her role as Clan Menhir's resident sculptor and potter - she works mainly in clay and lost wax techniques, putting her gifts to practical use.

Malykri came to Clan Menhir as many dragons do, on a pilgrimage to the Pillar. In her case, the journey was in search of her lost love Kiawe, and the clan's record keepers reached out to their neighbors, in hopes of helping the Ridgeback find her mate. Eventually, an answer came: Kiawe had traveled to stay at the Flamecaller's side. Arrangements were made, and Malykri hurried to rejoin her.

Some months later, the pair returned to Clan Menhir to visit, this time with a new guest in tow: young Verehren, still small enough to hide behind Kiawe's wings. In gratitude for aiding their reunion, the pair explained, they hoped that Menhir could raise their first daughter, rather than leaving her in the care of a Fire clan. With a little grumbling, Sunray agreed to it, and Vere was soon taken under Bean and Magmonte's wings as she learned what ordinary dragon life was like.

Verehren is now the oldest of several siblings scattered across Sornieth - most in Fire clans, though the youngest few visit each Flameforger's Festival with her mothers. They have told her that she is welcome to return home whenever she wishes, but for now she's content to spend her days with her adoptive family, and keep in touch through phoenix-delivered letters every few weeks.
