"In the wild, you have to get as much nutrition as possible.
Luckily, I stumbled upon a Wal-Mart where they stock whole milk." As any mad scientist worth their salt will tell you, it's a bad idea to give your mechanically-augmented-undead-murder-minions personalities and emotions. If they don't decide they'd rather be calling the shots and turn on you in a deliciously ironic third-act reversal, then they discover the meaning of love and refuse to murder the hero just when you need them to dammit, they're totally helpless and right there- ahem. Bedlam's creator was smarter than the average b-movie villian, but there are some things you just can't prepare for, random lightning strikes to the braincase being only one of many. And when Bedlam's consciousness bubbled to the surface and he opened his eyes for (figuratively) the first time, he didn't like what he saw. He didn't like what he'd been doing. He didn't like the person who'd been making him do it. One scene of carnage and a dramatic walk-away later, Bedlam was ready to start a new life, one filled with flowers and trees and slightly fewer dead bodies. After a short yet hilarious job search, Bedlam accepted a post as the caretaker for a stretch of old-growth forest slightly northeast of Salt Fork and later, Pumpkin Center. The isolated post gave him plenty of time to work on his poetry, with regular forays out to refresh trail markings, terrify littering teens, and occasionally deal with more dangerous types. He met Osha while trying to track a group of jewel smugglers who thought his forest would be a good place to hide. The two made a good team, and she hung around for quite a while after the smugglers were put away, ostensibly to work on her geological survey. Even when that was over, she came back to visit a few times a year, and Bedlam found himself looking forward, more and more, to her visits. It took a long time for them to move from a platonic to a romantic relationship, and a surprisingly short time from that to tying the knot. They were married by Rita in Salt Fork and have lived happily ever since. |

Bedlam's wife, Osha, is a seemingly mild-mannered geologist who spends her days studying the forest's rock formations. She claims her detective skills come from reading too many mystery novels. |
