Biography
Renaissance
The Queen Mate of Dread **********************
Handpicked to succeed Raidne as leader, Renaissance has many of the necessary qualities, though she is much less appreciative of democracy and more inclined to value others based on their potential contribution. Her time spent before taking the throne has left "survival of the fittest" branded across her brain, and it is not a rule from which she often deviates. On a personal level, however, she can be surprisingly affectionate, and gives richly of her time and her resources to those she loves or values. Rena also has a dangerously sharp wit; engaging her and Dread as a pair is not advised, for one may not get the opportunity to speak in counter. Perhaps most amusingly, she is somewhat hydrophobic as a result of having changed from a Ridgeback, and is also surprisingly germaphobic for a Plague dragon. Her knowledge of diseases is mainly employed in keeping them away from her.

History: Lengthy and complicated. Available to read here. Familiar: A Plague sprite named Carnage. Incidentally, Carnage is terribly fond of flowers and usually keeps the living area looking pretty. Rena has learned to just roll with it. Charge: A darksteel necklace. Having changed from a Ridgeback to a Guardian, Rena did not feel a deep, instinctual urge to seek a charge. Rather out of formality, she chose the thick, black band of runed steel she found buried in what appeared to be the ruins of some sort of temple. While the language is ancient and unknowable, the artifact feels as though it was made to indicate a position of power. She values it highly and would protect it, as befits her adopted species, but she would feel far more devastated by the loss of her mate than she would by the loss of the trinket. Significant items: Shortly after finding Dread and realizing he needed a way to know if a sound belonged to her or a stranger, Rena acquired strings of small rubies, set just closely enough to tinkle when she moves. He would eventually confess that he did not really need this clue to know when she was near, but she has kept them nonetheless. Being somewhat self-conscious about anything of a remotely emotional nature, she will usually just explain this as "It's our thing" and then promptly change the subject. There is one other item that Rena considers precious: A carefully cut gem, gold in color and set in a heavy gold chain. At present, only Dread knows of its significance (along with the people who read my lore.). |
