Bar/Daub/Glimmer


I am surrounded by warmth and darkness. Quite comfortable, if you ask me, but limited. I know this space, so I don’t need it anymore. If I can get out, there will be more to learn, and then after that, even more. So if I just push here-
Yes. With a too-loud crack, the warm space breaks and I am out. There are many things around me, but the most important ones are the ones that move. Four of them, two large, two small, all looking at me. One of the small ones is bigger than me, but she does not appear to pose any threat. In fact she is making an expression that seems- peacemaking? I copy it back at her, and move on.
The other small one seems oddly loud. He keeps squeaking, and it’s very annoying. Not a threat, though. He’s smaller than me and looks slow. Most interesting are the two big creatures. I think I like the bigger one better. Brighter colors mean important, clearly, and- oh the smaller large one is making noises. She seems to be speaking to the small annoying one.
“Hush, my son. Nothing will hurt you.”
Not important to me. The biggest one is holding something, and I muster my legs and make my way over to it. I sniff at the small object. Smells nice. I want it. I pull it out of his claws- I think he lets me take it, so that’s good.
I curl up around my new treasure. Just as I’m about to fall asleep, there’s a loud noise…
