The first thing he remembers is darknesss, eyes searching for any sight of light, unable to determine where he is or what's happening around him. His other senses being overwhelmed with unpleasant things; the screaming and dying breaths of those around him, the scratch on his skin of other dragons scales pressed against him, the stench of death filling his nostrils. He finds himself wiggling out from under the bodies around him, the closer he gets to the surface the more light entering his vision. As he emerges from the pile his eyes are met with a sight he can never forget. Around him lay the bodies of a clan he once belonged to, but can't remember now, and the air reeked of rot and disease. Everything had been brought to ruin,a home he once knew now gone to smoke and rot.
There's no memory of how this had happened, but the memory of what happened after is what defines him for the rest of his life. A dragon examining the ruin pauses as her vision lands on him, this tiny skydancer who's somehow survived the rot and ruin she had caused. Her face showed no expression as she made her way to him. He watched as she approached, the fear he knew he should feel escaping him, and waited as she came to a stop in front of him. A voice filled the air, but there is no memory of her mouth moving as she spoke. She asked him his name, and he answered softly that he had no memory of it. A pause, and then the dragon spoke again. "I am the plaguemother, You are Kravitz. You will work for me now, and do as I need. You will be my reaper, someone who knows ruin and can take others from the ruin they've lived through. This is your task, this is who you will be." |

The name he was given is Kravitz, the name others call him can differ greatly. Those that know of him, but only of his work, refer to him as the Grim Reaper, for it's the title that reflects the job giving to him best. Those that fear him call him Daemon, seeing him as a murderer, his presence a bad omen, a demon waiting to take their souls. Only those close to him use the name given, those that can see him as more than just the Plaguemother's right hand.
He doesn't mind the inconsistency in names, his reputation is spread no matter the name and that is what matters. He needs those to fear him, needs the Plaguemother's power to be feared and make thosewho hear of it tremble at the thought. If that fear disappears, he loses his job, and his life meaning. He settles himself down in a clan among the plaguemother's land, the dragons there have no fear for him, only respect and a home for him when he needs. He does his job as asked, leading lost and surviving souls home to the plague lands, a life other dragons would fear. He lets them, despite the misinformation of his land, for if they fear it then they leave those that live there alone. Kravitz protects these lands, and keeping them free of outsiders is a part of the job he holds so dearly. He promised the Plaguemother he would be her reaper, her guard, anything she needed; He dedicates his life to fulfill this promise. |
