Generally reclusive and shifty, Ilrae outwardly seems a poor choice for a representative. Nevertheless, the clan's Arcane dragons feel incredibly comfortable in her presence and have no issue circumventing her peculiarities to voice their concerns for her to relay. She has a rich knowledge of Arcane culture and customs, instantly putting even the newest of residents at ease. Her quiet demeanor also makes her a good listener, and she is iron-clad when it comes to the deepest secrets of her pink-eyed charges.
She is blind due to a traumatic injury.
i. history
Once a researcher in the Starfall Isles, Ilrae spent much of her life as a dutiful geneticist who was always on the forefront of scientific discovery. Initially, when the subject of her efforts became a dragon as opposed to some lesser being, she took on the assignment with the gusto her supervisors demanded. The act of experimenting on something so blatantly sentient, however, slowly began to grate on her...
At some point, she made the decision to flee with the subject. In the process, she was driven into the path of a plummeting shard of crystal and was incredibly damaged by the explosion. Aside from a number of cuts, one piece of the crystal lodged itself directly into her skull, blinding her but not killing her outright. With aid from the subject, who she quickly came to adopt as something akin to a child, she was able to survive her injuries and find refuge in Thunder Hollow.
