B I O G R A P H Y

______ "Stop, stop please!" he had exclaimed, thrashing and violently clawing. He wasn't going anywhere, as he was only a young Pearlcatcher. "Look at you, crying!" Letho criticized. "You are no son of mine! Not to this family, not to this bloodline! In the real world, you will get bullied and bruised if you can't fight back!" his father yelled, as he struggled to do so. "I'm trying...stop..." he said through tears. "Too weak. Too frail. Too small." he stated.
"You're worthless."

______ He would prove that he wasn't. That night, however hard he tried, he knew he wouldn't have beaten his dad in a fight. To do so would just be foolish. But he had nowhere else to go. Until Naris had looked up at the stars; the shining beauty reminded him of the places outside of his home. They might be dangerous, but he was left no other choice. No matter how much his father had said, he was sure that there was sure to be someone, something out there better than this place. He held his pearl tightly in his claws, spreading his wings, and just as he was about to fly, SNAP! and he came crashing back down, his pearl rolling away from him.

______ There stood Letho, father and leader of the tribe. "Now where do you think you're going?" he asks, blood staining his teeth from the bite to Naris' tail. Naris quickly began scrambling back up, tripping and stumbling from the imbalance in his tail, he could barely feel the end of it, only burning, excruciating pain from the injury. He looked in horror as he drew closer. He quickly made a jump for his pearl as his father pursued quickly. He clutched it firmly in his claws and quickly took flight as his father watched on. He didn't get far. With his injuries, Naris couldn't bare the pain, as he fell from the sky into the ocean.

______ All that he saw was black. Who knows how much time had passed since he fell in, he was shivering and freezing cold, his weak eyes fluttering open halfway, washed up on the shore of a nearby Flight. His breathing was slow, but he was breathing. He quickly shot up, his eyes looking everywhere. "No, no nonononononononono." he mumbled, tears welling in his eyes again. He didn't have his pearl.

T H E&ensp;P E A R L

______ His pearl was gone. He laid in silence in the sand, tears falling from his eyes. It's....it's gone. He was surely ready to pass out, but a fae dragon had appeared before him. "Are you dead?" she asked, flying down quickly and prodding at his body. He couldn't manage to say anything, he had only groaned. "Oh jeez, you're probably freezing to death out here." she quickly said, zipping away in some other direction. What am I without my pearl?
"You're worthless."

______ He awoke to the movement around him, a tall, beautiful and crystalline dragon in his presence with the small one again. And after that he was being carried. He groaned as he lifted his head, his eyes opening to a deep forest. "Don't worry, we're going to keep you safe for now. After that, we'll see about what we'll do with you." the small one stated. He coughed, quickly shooting up, falling from the back of the feathered dragon and landing to the ground.

______ "I...my pearl..please.....help..." he pleads, creeping back towards the ocean. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Okay, okay! What's all this now?" the fae asks, before whispering back and forth to Quartztooth about his possible insanity. "My...pearl...I lost it..in..the sea..." he barely gets out. "There ain't no way we can go get that! The ocean is like a bazillion huge!" she says. "Thank you, Saphy. That's enough. Is there any chance you know where you were?" Quartztooth asks rationally, thinking in long term maybe she could try and calm Naris down had she returned the pearl. "....S...Shadow..flight....I...fell..." he manages. Quartztooth begins, "Alright, I think I can-" "no! I mean, I want to, help, y'know." Saphyroth adds. The dragon chuckles at the addition, and agrees. "First, we have to make sure this one gets back safe."

______ They had laid him down in the cave to accompany Sassafras. As they left, and he waited, he began to cry. "I couldn't do anything then, and I can't even do anything now. I'm still just..letting other people solve my problems. I'm...worthless." he mutters. "Boy, you aren't thinking right." Sassafras remarks, turning his aging body towards Naris. "Now, I don't know what happened out there, but know this. You are young. You don't have to fix this. This was a problem that was brought upon by something you can't control and you shouldn't have to fix it. But you don't have to worry anymore. We can be there for you. We all can." Sassafras comforts, a small smile on his face as he tilts his head down. Naris approaches him slowly.

______ "Please. Please don't leave me." he asks. "We never would. We never will. You can stay here, with us, forever." he says, as Naris rests against Sassafras' soft fur and drifts asleep. Hours later, he had felt the warmth of the pearl returned to him, his eyes lazily open and see Saphyroth standing above him. He sits up from his rest and looks to Saphyroth. "Thank you. I'll never be able to show how grateful I am for this." he says softly, a kind gaze from him which had sent the fae dragon into a frenzy. "Oh, well, heh, you know, it's, um, nothing. Just doing what I can, y'know? Hah! Hah." Naris giggles, wrapping himself tightly around the pearl, finally, as Saphyroth flies down to the ground and curls up with him, he once again drifts off into a peaceful sleep surrounded by his new family.

"We're going to keep you safe for now."

"I can't even do anything now."

"But you don't have to worry anymore. We can be there for you. We all can."

"I guess that'd be something to try,"

"He couldn't help but find it cute."

THE SMALL, FAE DRAGON

______ Ever since that fae dragon had returned his pearl to him, not only has he kept it extra close since then, but he's paid particular attention to the dragon in particular. As months passed, they understood each other pretty well; they would crack jokes and he would follow her on hunting trips every once and a while to "help out" while she did all the hard work. It was good to have the company though, because back in the clan, every time he looked her way she averted her eyes. "Are you alright?" he asked one day. She had snapped out of her thoughts. "Huh? Me? Yeah, I'm fine!" she responds quickly, flying quickly around him. "What about you? What's the deal with the huge pearl anyways?" she asks curiously, climbing to Naris' back. "Well, it's sort of like...a part of me. I just feel a lot less scared and a lot less lonely when I hold it." he responds, staring into the pearl's glossy layers. "Is that so? Well, the same applies to me too." she says jokingly. He chuckles in response, "I guess that'd be something to try, on the off chance I ever lose my pearl again."

______ Saphyroth hadn't ever had a romantic relationship before, she'd lived alone her whole life in a cave in the deep ends of the outskirts of the forest in the Earth flight, the only experience she did have was advice given from the only functioning relationship she knows of, which would be Quartztooth and Sassafras. Even then, the best she could get was to 'be herself', and apparently she took that in being as flirtatious as possible. He couldn't help but find it cute coming from a fae dragon like herself. "I just might have to, considering the offer.." he replies, with a smile as Quartztooth made her way to them. "Everything alright with you two?" asked the feathered dragon, as Naris jumped at the sudden intrusion of Quartztooth, as she nudged Saphyroth and giggles, much to the confusion of Naris. "Quartztooth, be quiet!" she had exclaimed, pushing on her but to no avail. She had her in height and weight. "Sassafras will stay here, I'm going to go collect materials for the next few nights. I'll take on scavenging for today." as Saphyroth nodded. "Alright then, awfully nice of you to do so." she agreed, "Yes, of course. I'll see you in a couple of hours." and then she had left.
