You find yourself in an empty corner of the library, where no one else seems to go. You swear you were following a bird, but it seems to have vanished into thin air. It's a little creepy, honestly. You tell yourself you'll leave as soon as you make sure it isn't just behind...this...bookshelf...
Suddenly, you're face to face with a gruff-looking pearlcatcher. She seems to have set up shop here, with weapons and maps strewn about the table. The weapons are a little odd for a library, but you won't question it.
”Gotta ghost problem? Some spirit playing with your boots?" She doesn't look at you as she speaks, just continues fiddling with her armor.
Confused, you shake your head.
”Then you'd best be going now. No use for a ghost hunter without any ghosts."
She gives you a pointed look.

You get the feeling you should listen before you find out what other pointed things she'll give you.
---
When negative spirits are removed, they are trapped in a vessel with a helpful spirit to keep it contained.
Morrigan knows this firsthand.
She used to live in the Scorched Forest, where the trees were thickest. There lay a lodge devoted to housing the best hunters in the world, and Morrigan was proud to be among them. She had a wife, and a child on the way, and a life where she was happy.
Then some idiot brought a spirit vessel back to the lodge.
Then some idiot broke said vessel.
Morrigan was lucky (unlucky?) enough to be out on a hunt when this happened and returned to her home in flames. She rushed into the rubble to rescue her wife, her friends, just anyone she could find. Instead, she found a great beast coiled in the ruins of her life.
It struck out at her, great claws reaching towards her chest.
Morrigan let it hit her.
As she fell, a voice echoed in her head.
”Not just yet, little one"
Morrigan was half angry at the voice for interrupting her death, but also curious. It's not every day something speaks to you in your own head.
”I need your help. If you accept, you will be-"
”Will this thing die?"
”Well yes, but-"
She didn't care what would happen.
Morrigan made a deal.
The helpful spirit would give her her vengeance, and, in exchange, Morrigan would be its hunter, its claws, its partner in containing other spirits. Morrigan didn't care. She just needed her family back.
---
Now that spirit from the vessel is just one of many in her list of former prey. She is a formidable enemy, burning through her enemies with flame and fury. She's still angry, but there's a resignation to it, like an ember that refuses to sputter out. She's especially angry at this whole place. Morrigan came here because she heard the area was ripe with hostile spirits, but these dragons have their heads stuffed with clouds and won't even let her kill them! What's even the point? Now she's stuck waiting around until they realize their mistakes!
---
She won't admit it, but it is sort of nice to have a peaceful place to live again. But she can't afford to be soft anymore. There are other monsters out there.

- - - - ▸ Familiar Bio
Morrigan is rarely seen without the company of her death seekers. The three birds function almost as an extension of herself, three little shadows closely following her every move. Outside of the hunt, they behave like normal birds, begging for scraps and puffing up when Morrigan scratches behind their ears. However, when the hunt begins, they become perfect trackers, flying silently through the woods after her quarries and alerting her to their location.
Particularly perceptive dragons may notice that the birds don't always appear as normal death seekers. When they're near Morrigan, their feathers are pristine. However, the further they travel from her, the more their feathers seem to molt, revealing the skeletons within, the bright green eye in their chest now exposed. If they travel too far, the eye shuts and the feathers fall off completely, the skeleton falls to the earth unmoving, and a pretty new deathseeker appears on Morrigan's shoulder, ready to beg for treats again.
