"I walk away from yesterday to our fated goodbye..."

The impression that one gets when they meet Imoen is one of a shy and gentle dragon. However, she wasn't always like this. In fact, her younger days were filled with excitement typical of a Spiral. Born in the first clutch of her father but only one of many for her mother, she received vastly more attention from her father than her mother. Shrugging it off, she never took any notice of it when she was young. Her mother's attention was usually divided between other hatchlings anyway.

Often, she would see her siblings around the clan, laughing and enjoying themselves. They seemed to love the clan and their life. However, Imoen soon began to notice something else. No matter how much fun they seemed to be having, most of them left the clan to serve their deity. This confused Imoen, why would they go to a place from where they could possibly never return if they were happy in the clan? She pondered this as she grew up.

Soon, Imoen became quite a pretty young spiral and began to attract potential suitors. One of these was a handsome young spiral named Thevenin. He noticed Imoen while visiting the clan and they fell in love after a few conversations. Despite his sometimes cold and distant manner, he seemed to return her affections, even gifting her a black tail bow. Because of that, she decided to leave with him when it came time for him to return to his clan.

"All I ever wanted was for you to hear my thoughts, all my dreams and fears, just say them out..."

Thevenin's Arcane clan was a striking contrast to her Nature clan. In his clan, they enjoyed studying and chasing curiosities. Though she felt a little out of place at first, she soon adapted and had a clutch of three eggs with Thevenin. However, when it came time for them to hatch, two of them were dead eggs. After this incident, Thevenin seemed to grow more distant and leave for long periods of time. As such, the only surviving hatchling was left for Imoen to raise in an ironic reversal of her own childhood.

Soon afterward, Thevenin stopped interacting with her completely. Later, she found out that he had returned to his previous mate. Not only that but her son Edgar expressed a desire to leave and serve the Arcanist. Heartbroken, Imoen left the clan the day after Edgar traveled to the Arcanist's Observatory. For a while, she wandered aimlessly and pined away. It felt like the world had suddenly collapsed on her. Confused and lost, she barely had the will to look for her own food. In fact, she was on the verge of starvation when Veridian found her.

Not even hesitating for a moment, he took her into his Ice clan. There, his kind clanmates fed and nursed her back to health. Torn between feeling grateful to Viridian and her own hesitance to give her heart out again, she spent a few months adjusting to his clan before finally deciding to have a clutch with him. However, Viridian's social butterfly personality ensured that the relationship failed, and Imoen once again left a clan feeling heartbroken with both children going to serve the regional deity.

"Now carrying these memories which pain me with a smile..."

By now, Imoen made up her mind not to trust anyone again. However, her nature roots made it hard for her to survive in the Southern Icefields and she soon had to seek a clan for shelter. Though she had sworn not to fall for any dragon ever again, she couldn't help but be swept away by Kale. He had just the right combination of honesty and gentleness to win her heart, not to mention his dashing good looks. Though he too had a mate once, his mate had left on a journey from which she never returned. Their similar heartbreaks created a strong connection, and Imoen let herself believe that she had finally found a stable source of happiness.

However, misfortune wasn't done with her yet, and soon all of her children left to serve their deity as they had before. Though previously she had taken it in as part of her unluckiness, she took it especially hard and personally this time. How had she raised her hatchlings wrong? Had she not instilled in them enough clan love? Was it some aftereffect of her own distant mother? Or did she simply bring bad luck with her everywhere she went? All these questions haunted her, though Kale lessened their impact.

"All that I can do is beg as hard as I can, but the nightmares keep on haunting me."

One fateful day, Kale was assigned a dangerous mission. He told Imoen he might not return, but he had to do it for his clan. Begging him not to go, Imoen felt as though one more stab at her heart might break her forever, and it did. The day that Kale left was the day that Imoen finally shattered. All at once, she lost all of her energy and hope. Though she waited, Kale never returned. Seeing as there was no reason for her to stay after that, she left the clan for another.

Tracing back her first journey from the Viridian Labyrinth to the Southern Icefields, she took a rest in a Lightning clan. There, she learned of a friendly clan situated in the Arcanist's domain. Thanking the Lightning clan for their kindness and information, she left the clan and made a beeline for the Starfall Isles. When she finally arrived, she was welcomed by all of the Arcane clan.

After a few interactions and hearing Imoen's story, the leader of the clan, Cynosure, took a liking to her. She awarded her the title of Baroness and assigned her the position of clan counselor, seeing that Imoen's experiences would make her have a deeper understanding of other dragons. She also finally found out what exactly had happened to Kale, delivered to her via a mysterious note in her lair.

Even though she wasn't as highly ranked as some dragons, all of them respected her and warmly accepted her into the clan culture. In fact, they all agreed that she was a caring motherly figure and looked to her whenever they just needed a listening ear. The part of her that had been destroyed slowly began to piece itself back together, and to this day she spends her time in the clan, though you may catch her occasionally staring wistfully into the distance.

"Hey, is it alright if I keep calling out your name?"
