Rivervein is another of the clan's... unusual Tundras. She can't speak, and can vocalize solely through chirps and trills. The clan medics suspect improperly-developed vocal chords as the reason. It's definitely not due to a lack of understanding - she is surprisingly intelligent, even for dragons in general. While she does have a tendency to forget names, as would be usual for her breed, she has an astonishingly acute visual as well as olfactory memory. While she may only remember that your name begins with an "m" sound, after only seeing you once, she could draw a fully accurate portrait of your features. She herself wonders if her odd attributes are a result of her heritage...
It's a good thing that she can draw well and has good penmanship, since that's the only way she can successfully communicate with most other dragons. She carries around a notepad, ink bottle, and feather pen wherever she goes, in order to communicate with others in a way they can understand. Most dragons around her can faithfully decipher her mood based on the chirps she makes - whether she is alarmed, happy, thoughtful, or sad. When it comes to Fae, however, she usually draws sketches of Fae head crest positions to indicate her mood to them when necessary. None of the other members of the clan happen to know sign language, so she makes due the best she can. Rivervein finally found another dragon she can sign with in her mate Thorncall, who is also a Naomi descendant. She works as a sentry for the clan, mostly by smell; if she picks up any hint of an odor that warrants investigation, she will notify scouts by bringing a message indicating source, distance, and direction from the clan.
