Rye is unusual, as Graygarden settlers come, and that's saying something cause they all seem to have strange quirks. While the rest of the lot are lowborn, magic-poor, and often former slaves, Rye is none of the above.

Once upon a time there was an Imperial in the Southern Icefield who turned out to be very, very good at Ice magic, so she was trained to amplify her natural skills. The idea was that she'd be a battlemage, or ruler of a peasant town, or something to that effect; something suitably impressive anyway. She got good enough that the Icewarden Himself took note of her ability and blessed her with a Mark so that everyone would know her power.

....aaand then she left the Icefields for greener pastures and hasn't looked back since. Rye puts her considerable magical power to use via serving chilled drinks and providing AC for one (1) building. That's it. Well, she runs a brewery too, but that doesn't require much magical skill to be honest. Hey, whatever makes you happy, right?

• Her birth name was something overly grand and complicated. Needless to say she happily picked something new as soon as she was out of the Icefields.

• Fallout 4 fandragon! Technically a canon character but has no personality so I gave her one :D
