A Pearlcatcher stuck with a stutter after years of forced experimentation. He was born into Shadow but was raised in a Plague clan, held prisoner as a scientist while the clan attempted to form a new sort of toxin. He, and a few other dragons, were forced to experiment on sickly clan members and hatchlings, their concoctions used against them should they fail or disobey. A tiny green spiral was placed in his 'care' at one point, one he recognized as the son of a lover he had briefly and left behind to keep her safe. He realized this meant she was killed in his clan's raiding for more 'patients'. He decided to protect this hatchling. A few years passed and he helped the hatchling escape, many false serums and tight lips kept both of them safe until he was able to smuggle him out, but punishment soon followed, his own mixtures forced onto him. This hatchling was picked up by a passing Light clan and was later to be known as Joane, meeting again when Josi's clan raided another for the young and sick. Joane had no memory of him or what he did, but helped free him, ultimately joining with his own clan. They consider one another father and son. His mate, Mae, was revealed to be in hiding, reuniting with her current mate that was manipulated with a potion to turn against her and freed with the help of Joane, Josi, Tavia, and the rest of the Spiral family. Despite having no memories of any of his family, Joane still considers Josi his father on top of his birth father and mother, making the three of them a triangle of lovers that is known for taking in hatchlings to increase their family. Josi is nervous in his step and feels guilt from his past, forced or not. The weight of harming his son is heavy on his mind even with how close they are and how bright the future is. His mates reassure him that things were not his fault, that he did the best he could and his son makes sure that no blame is left on him for what he had to do; the constant reassurance has left him a bit bolder over time. He finds himself endlessly worried over Joane's physical state, as tampered as it is, rushing to keep him from illness and injury the moment he finds out anything has gone wrong. This trait extended to those in the clan he became close to resulting in him becoming the clan doctor, running a shop with Joane's other father and Joane himself within the ruins. |
