Biography

Viridian

Herbalist and Matriarch

Viridian was alone in the wasteland for as long as she could remember. The diseased soil and rotten plants proved to be no match against her "green thumb", and she brought up flourishing gardens of toxic flora and fungi. Through trial and error she became a skilled herbalist and created potions, poultices, powders, balms, salves, ointments, teas, infusions, plasters, poisons, and more.

Viridian became an herbalist because it was what she liked to do, but the money wasn't so bad either. It always brought her joy to see one of her cures save a life. She never thought too hard about what her poisons were used for.

There was a sick mirror dragon in her garden one day, and she took pity on him. She brought him back to her lair and used her skills to nurse him back to health. While he had no wounds, he was at death's doorstep. With dismay she discovered that it was her own handiwork, one of the poisons derived from a flower only she grew, that weakened him.

While the mirror, Blightwing, recovered, she inquired into his history. He had suspicions of betrayal from a newcomer in his pack, and seethed with bloodlust. She tried to distract him by asking him about himself over the weeks he recovered, but he could not be dissuaded.

Once recovered, he left to track down his pack and take his revenge, and Viridian ruefully accepted she would never know the end of the story. Each passing day increased her unrest, until she couldn't bare it any longer- she needed to go after him. The very next morning he was back again though, and has stayed ever since.
Neither Viridian nor Blightwing have incredibly maternal instincts, and as Viridian can't remember anything of how she was raised, they decided to do it Blightwing's way. That is, leave the offspring in the night without a word, and if they are strong enough, let them find their own way back.

Some find their way back to the pack. Most never do. Those who don't usually make it to other clans or packs, and the others are claimed by the Wasteland.
