The statue in the garden is the most obvious haunted item I’ve ever seen, which of course means I’m not allowed to do my job and destroy it. It seems Paliana has grown attached to its presence, and drove me out of the hedges it resides in as soon as I made my intentions clear.As I cannot remove the threat, I instead followed up on the provenance of the statue. It seems that “she”, as Paliana has decided, is followed by a long trail of murders on people who bought her. Every one was killed the same way: found in the garden smashed under the sundial the statue carries, while she stands over them in the same pose, as if she never moved. I suspect this troubled past is exactly why the statue was so cheap, and why she’s now ended up in Paliana’s care.

I returned to Paliana again, making it clear that I meant no harm this time. I questioned her as to how she’s managed to keep the statue from harming her, and it seems the answer is surprisingly simple. Apparently, she has a fondness for roses, and placing one on her sundial placates her. Paliana also reports that teaching people to be respectful of her and gift her little trinkets has been instrumental in lowering her hostility.I don’t like it, but I will concede my hunt for now. She is still something to keep an eye on, but if her murderous tendencies have been kept at bay, she does not appear to be a current threat.

Masterpiece's soft pastel colors are soothing, and her mix of textures with the skin and apparel keeps the eye searching over her artwork. Every time I come back to her I notice something new that further solidifies her complete look. I especially love the mix of the two halos highlighting her eye color and tying in the soft touches of gray-blue on the edges of her wing.
