B I O G R A P H Y

Ever since she was a hatchling, Amuless was always aware of her own power. But as time went by, she never truly understood how to use it. One day she came upon a book. It seemed to be an ordinary book titled “Soulflare”. It was bound in leather, forgotten by time. Inside it were detailed guides on curses. Unlike other books she had seen, this one detailed the ways to curse one, not how to cure them. She took the Soulflare home, intent on keeping it safe so that no one would use it. Curiosity got the best of her once she was safe in her home. She started reading everything in the book, studying all the different ways and methods described in there. Whoever had made it was quite knowledgeable about curses in general. Days went by and no one knew about the book, except her. The more she studied, the more she understood how dangerous it was in the wrong hands.

It started off with simple things. First time she ever used a curse, was when she saw another dragon steal valuable items from the clan’s shared storage. She cast a simple curse, which would attract bad karma to him, so to speak. It was a simple spell, yet it was more powerful than it was intended to be. At first, she thought it was mere coincidence. But as she kept using simple spells to dish out punishment when it was not her duty to so, they kept becoming more and more powerful. She started realizing that her strengths lie in curses, which fueled her to keep doing so.

As time went on, she started cursing more and more people, until her clan found out about it. They threw her out for fear of their own safety, but it was too late. For her curses had attracted something far more sinister than simple bad karma. The clan fell into ruins shortly after, but she survived. It wasn’t long until she was found, and evil invaded her soul. She desperately tried to fight it off and made her journey into the heart of the Tangled Wood, where Shadowbinder resides.

____Shadowbinder freed her from the clutches of evil, but Amuless had to pay a heavy price for it. Fragments of her being are now eternally lost. Her emotions, as vibrant and lively as they were before, are all watered down to the point of being nearly nonexistent. She still had the Soulflare with her but — with Shadowbinder’s consent — tossed it into the Forum of the Obscured Crescent, where it can never be found by another being. She was given a few roses to put on her wings, which would not only protect her from the cold grip of evil but would also remind her of what she’d done. The roses soon spread across her wings, covering them.

____Word of what she’d done spread through all of Sornieth. She traveled from lair to lair, searching for a new home yet finding none. She had cursed far too many dragons to ever be accepted by other clans. Eventually she had an idea. Since she wasn’t welcomed anywhere, why not make a place where she would be?

____From the rotten wood and rusty metal, she fashioned a gate. Not to shut anyone out, but to act as a waypoint. She plucked a few roses from her wings and planted them, to start a garden. Days went by as she created a lair of her own. Weeks went by until she had placed barrier upon barrier to protect it. Glowing sprites were attracted by the use of her strange magic and soon she had charmed them to act as guides for the lost ones.

____When her own wings became unusable, she got a new pair of wings, which she could use with the help of some magic. It would remind her of her new duty to protect those who needed help. The clan she had created at the Nightkeeper Sanctum, was a safe haven for all who needed it. None would be turned back the gate and she’d do everything in her power to help those seeking guidance. It was the only thing she could do to atone for her sins.
