Biography
Despi’s first few days of life were foggy, but there were a few memories that he would recite, if only on request. At the time of his hatching, he remembered little more than darkness and soft auras. A few clouds of emotion curled around him, soft and warm, but with an underlying bitterness. He paid no attention to the prodding, and instead focused himself on the warmer emotions before settling to sleep. As he slept, his downy feathers swaying in the breeze, the cloud grew. When he awoke, it was so fierce he couldn’t stand it, and snapped his eyes open to find a Wildclaw he instinctively knew to to be his mother. In her shaking arms was an egg, unbroken, unhatched, and dark. Time passed, and it became all too obvious, even to his hatchling mind, his mother was too wrapped in grief for her lost child to properly care for her living one. One day, a hulking Imperial came to their nest, and after an absentminded nod of acceptance, the unknown dragon fanned her great wings and took off with Despi in her arms. He stayed quite a while in the Imperial’s clan, but after a time, it felt like something was missing. He had never before sought to return to his mother’s care, but he wanted to have a family. He told the clan this, and promised them that while the members of the clan resounded in his heart and he had and would always care about them, it just wouldn’t be the same. With that, he set off, until he found his new clan. Looking in for the first time, carrying nothing but the bare essentials and a few bracelets, Despi knew he had found his home. Despi prided himself on his handiwork, but never quite felt inclined to work with woods or metal like many of the dragons in his foster home. Sure, the outcome was nice, but he never deemed it “pretty” enough to be worth his time. So he worked with yarn. Yarn, of all things, and fabrics. As soon as Layla taught him, he couldn’t seem to stop. When he wasn’t working on a project, his tended to fidget with his hands, and that’s where the yarn came in. If he wasn’t busy creating or mending a bit of clothing, he would carry a skein of yarn and, after cutting it to lengths he deemed appropriate for such a task, coiled it about his fingers into little bracelets. After enough practice, Despi found himself regularly working with his eyes closed and having little issue. He would gift these bracelets to those he cared about, and to those he wished to get to know. When welcomed into his new home, he gifted a bracelet to the leader, and when it came time, to his mate.
