O R I G I N S

______ I trained in the art of magic, showing early aptitude as a Cryomancer. I travelled from my home to the Southern Icefield to further my craft. I knew as I left I would never be allowed to return to my home nest site.

I excelled at all things Ice, from simple snowflakes to full-on blizzards. I worked hard to build up my stamina, out-compete my classmates, and work hard to become top of my class. I meditated upon the Crags to hone my skills. Upon completion of my studies, I traveled home to the Tangled Wood.

I didn't have a clan. No lair to call home. I wandered the Shadow Realm in search of a purpose. In search of my home. I spent most of my time at Driftwood Drag, teasing the waters with my skills, creating small icebergs and swirling slushies. An occasional critter would wander close enough to admire my work but was always wary of me. I watched other dragons as they came and went. That's when I heard her.
My ears perked at her calls. I found myself in flight before fully comprehending the situation. It could be a trap. One can never be too careful about other beasts and their motives.
The rest of me had already decided it was worth investigating. I had magic to protect me should their intentions be malicious.

Deep within the brambles, I searched. Hours seemed to pass as I began to lose hope. No further calls had been made.
I perched at a small clearing and strained to listen.
Again, her call rang out a short distance away. I took off before I had fully let go, taking some branching in my clutches. I shook the pieces from my feet and called. I called and I called, until my soul felt like it may burst into a million shards of ice.

There she was! She circled high above the ground, searching for the one that had answered her call. I joined her in the sky, mirroring her movements. As I looked into her deep violet eyes, I knew I found it. Home.
