Fallen Star

A streak of light pierced the gloom of the Tangled Wood, high above the Bramble. Radiant in its splendor, its tail an illuminating amalgam of purples and pinks.
I opened my eyes and found myself surrounded by darkness. My glorious glowing was tampered by the suffocating cloud of darkness. I cried in frustration, glittering rivulets running down my shiny fur and trailing out of sight to the loamy floor.
I should be piercing every corner of this dark place, I croaked softly, finding my voice in this strange world.
How can a world suck the very essence of my soul? I cried softly once again. I wrapped my pearlescent wings around my body, cradling myself as I began to sob in earnest. With every tear, a piece of me drifted away into the night. My wings turned to darkness, much as I was surrounded by it. I rapidly attempted to calm myself, lest I drift away into nothingness altogether. My breathing slowed and my tears subsided. Streaks of color were all that remained upon my once beautiful wings. I sniffled once more but refused to allow more tears.
I unfurled my wings, too frustrated to look at them any more. The damage had been done. As
