Aulula

Aulula's egg was found in an abandoned den in the Shifting Expanse. She was raised in a "moving orphanage", a small band of adult nomads caring for abandoned or orphaned children that they find along the way. Soon after reaching adulthood, she bid farewell to her friends and surrogate family to forge her own life. Her best friend and long-time crush, a mirror male named Shadow, decided to join her. They wandered the deserts of the Lightning territory, before eventually settling in a tangle of interconnected caves inside a cliff.

Their little home served as a pit stop for nomads and travelers and engineers moving house for work. Over time, other dragons began to settle in the cave systems. Aulula realized they were becoming a tight-knit family, and named their new clan The Gathered Wanderers. They travel together a lot, but they always have a home waiting for them. Their clan picks up fellow wanderers along the way, many of whom decide to stay with them indefinitely. The egg and hatchling abandonment rate of the planet was unfortunately high, but especially in the Shifting Expanse. The clan agreed to care for any unguarded eggs or hatchlings they discovered, and thus their numbers are constantly growing.

On their journeys, Aulula and Shadow were hunting together and reminiscing over their shared childhood, when Shadow confessed his love to her. Aulula, shocked and pleased, explained that she reciprocated the feelings, and after discussing long into the night, they underwent the soul-binding ritual at once.

Aulula is serious and solemn, pondering but decisive, authoritative, and a good listener. She cares deeply for her clan and will do almost anything to keep them safe and content. She thinks long and hard before coming to decisions, but the decisions she makes are nearly always good ones. She takes her duties as leader very seriously, and encourages her clanmates to speak up about their opinions so she can improve their quality of life.

Her husband and close friends are the only ones who get to see the lighter side of her. The side of her that likes cheap jokes and terrible puns, the side of her who has a high-pitched, wheezy sort of laugh, the side of her that has a bright smile and cracks jokes with the rest of them.

As the clan leader, she has many duties, and she is very meticulous about each one. She handles the gathering, organizes the battle teams, and approves breeding pairs. She's also the one who ultimately decides their next location or route, though she does take her clanmates opinions into consideration.
