Music weaves faint through the trees with the languid plucking of a sitar, festive yet hollow. An old woman with empty eyes strums, lantern flickering at her feet. She does not lift her head to greet visitors, but her invitation comes hoarse, almost whispered.

"Come, children, come... The night is young, though I am not."

Her wrinkled claws never cease plucking. The curtain of hair never lifts from Isra's expressionless face, from her pitch black eyes.

"Let us touch your heart and lift your spirits, if only for one night... Stay, and feel your burdens grow light."

Isra's invitation is warm, but her warning chills the skin like an evening gale.

"Ah, but take care not to linger among beasts... You may not wish to miss the circus, but you will wish you missed the feast."

She smiles, if only for one moment. Her sitar fills the silence.
