When she hatched, Carminite had found herself with only the remains of her sibling's eggs. Her parents were nowhere in sight, but that didn't stop her. Being the curious Mirror she was, she began exploring her surroundings, learning to hunt and fish in the process through trial and error. When she looks back on herself, Carminite thinks that the Plaguebringer had perhaps blessed her during her youth, as she had picked up on survival skills surprisingly well on her own.

When Carminite became bored of the secure grove she hatched in, she gathered her few belongings and began exploring the vast Abiding Boneyard. Ultimately, she wandered by herself, and when she would temporarily join a pack of Mirrors, she usually kept to herself. She says that some of the teachings she learned while in packs have helped her survive to this day, though she's never actually told anyone what those teachings were.

After years of living a traveler's life, Carminite decided it was time to settle in a lair. She also wanted to try leading a clan of dragons, as opposed to a semi-silent pack of Mirrors. After she had cleared out a lair under Plaguebringer's permission, Tangorn had stumbled upon her lair. He had told her that she was his Charge. At the time, she wasn't sure what that meant, but she just went with it and let him join the newly formed clan. He became the clan deputy, and eventually Carminite's mate.

Even as a clan leader, Carminite still keeps to herself for the most part. She will talk to the other members, but the only dragons who are close to her are Tangorn and any of the dragons in her lineage. She usually portrays herself as cool, collected, and serious, but the few she's close to know that she's quite kind and gentle. When she's in a bad mood, her temper is extremely short, more so than your typical annoyed dragon; the only dragon who ever interacts with her when she's miffed is Tangorn.
Carminite enjoys her job as leader, and the other dragons of the clan say that they wouldn't want a different leader. In her down time, she enjoys the company of her family, playing with her Swamphaunt Kelpie, and doodling in her drawing pad. (She's not as good an artist as Ember, but she enjoys doodling none-the-less.)
