Biography

Medley is the granddaughter of the founders of the Travels Rest Lair (LadyChipmunk's lair), Heilyn and Onyx. She loves them, loves her dad, Facet, and thinks home is a wonderful place. She intends to return someday. But, right now, she's young and restless. Plus, she's struggling to find a place to fit in. She's a tad too prissy (and if honest, vain) to fit in with the laid-back Onyx, nor is she so sternly nurturing as Heilyn, though she is friendly and outgoing. Talkative to a fault, some say.

She certainly doesn't take after Facet. Animals make her sneeze. So, for now, she's decided to travel, see the world, find her strengths. That way, when she does come home, it will be with a purpose.

Nightkeeper Sanctum (Darkesty)

While wandering around the Tangled Wood, Medley soon found herself next to a lair. The lair's hatchlings took notice of her and swarmed closer to her. "Who are you?" they asked, "Where are you from?". "I'm Medley. I come from the Travels Rest Lair in the Dragonhome".

The hatclings were soon ushered away from her by a small fae. A black, speckled spiral approached her with grace in her movements. "Are you a traveler?" She asked. "Yes, I want to see the world with my own eyes" Medley told her and looked around for a bit. It was a nice little lair, surrounded with mushrooms and a few roses.

The spiral introduced herself as Seirlan and asked if she'd like to join them while they tried out a new paint. She ended up agreeing and as they painted their nails, she learned that the lair got a lot of travelers, most of whom were searching for answers. She learned that one of their most reckless one had also left for a journey, which worried the spiral greatly. She spent the night in the lair.

The next morning, as she was leaving, 3 of the hatchlings approached her. "We know you're leaving so we wanted to give you a small gift. It's not much but we hope you like it" they said as they handed her a beautiful lei made of violets. And with that, she was off.

Medley flew for several days, looking for something that piqued her intetest. She was on the verge of giving up for the day when a sign amongst the scraggly trees of the starfall islands caught her attention. In crudely drawn letters, many of them backwards, it read, "sUpe33r YAArb sALee! ----> ". She landed nearby and walked in the the direction the curious sign pointed to until she found another. This one read "b3St stuF 3beR!! ---->" She continued following the arrow, finding sign after sign. "JU5t eroUNd c0rN3r!" "A77 MusT DeRE!!" "B3St yarDSa13 eV3r!" Medley wondered who would go through the trouble of making so many signs without actually knowing how to properly write them.
Or read them.
After following a set of four signs for a good 30 minutes she realized the signs were placed in a large circle and quietly cussed.
Whoever placed these was either pranking her or had no sense of direction.
She sat down, massaged her head with both her clawed hands and grumbled softly to herself. What kind of dragon would do something like this? These signs were terrible! Were they even leading her somewhere or were they leading her in circles on purpose!!???
Whatever the case was she now had a massive headache and a new purpose: fix those signs.
But to do that she would have to find where the signs were trying to take her to.
She sat on the ground and looked up at a cloud while pondering an answer. Finally she decided It might be easier to see a clue or two if she went higher.
With determination Medley pounded the air with her powerful wings and took to the air, gained speed as she went higher and higher. She feverishly scanned the ground below and after several tense moments found another sign! It was IN the branches of a tree! How could any dragon on the ground ever see the sign covered in leaves? And way above their heads? And...she shook her head. There were to many questions she had and far to few answers for them.
She pressed on and followed the signs until the directions once again stopped. She thought for a few moments, hovering in the air, before she smacked her clawed hand to her head. Of course! This was just like before but reversed: the signs had to be on the ground! She swooped down to the ground below in excitement. Sure enough there was a sign right in the ground, clear as day. Well, clear as these signs got. Which if she was sticking with the metaphor was on average a horrible snow storm. One that only those lands far to the north had in a harsh winter.
But once mirror had learned the weird code of the signs she began to follow them with ease.
And they lied: the yardsale was not just around the corner OR close by. She had followed the signs all around the starfall isles! From high above barren trees to the grounds below: where landing meant twisted and warped limbs entangling in your wings and tail. She ran on land, swum over seas, climes spires, even stood upon a great observatory and heard the faint echo of forbidden words rolling off of enchanted tongues deep inside.....
She shivered as she quietly tiptoed away.
Finally Medley stood at the entrance to a guarded lair. It had to be the right place because one of the signs clearly said, "dus r1gHt plaSe!" and pointed to the lair.
The lair I self was set into the base of the widest mountian sitting next to the woods. . . Wait. . . .
Medley turned around in a panic and her panic changed to pure horror: THIS IS WHERE SHE HAD STARTED FROM!!
Why had these signs led her all around the isles SEVERAL TIMES OVER when all she had to do was turn around!!???
She felt faint. She had to meet the dragon that did this. And maybe throttle him a bit. But just a bit.

Medley held her head up high and strode to the guards at the lair's entrance, "Your Signs--!!!" She started but was cut off by an enormous dark blue male mirror. His muscles bulged and he towered over Medley. "We know," his voice rumbled.

His companion, a smaller light blue female mirror hissed angrily, "SIGNS!!?? IS NO-TING WRUNG WIT SIGNS!! I MAK SIGNS MEESULF!!" The female mirror thrashed her tail about and snapped her jaws, ready to fight.
She wasn't very friendly but she made a great guard.

The larger mirror began talking, his deep voice almost hypnotic, "Thank you for visiting: please observe these simple rules while being a guest at this establishment..."
Medley listened carefully and nodded in agreement of the rules and the behemoth of a dragon led her inside. She looked around the inner cavern and marveled at the sheer volume of dragons and stuff in the cavern. Tables of all shapes, dragons of all sizes, smoke and slime. The gigantic cavern was packed! She stood in awe before remembering herself and asking a burning question before the huge bodyguard went back to the entrance, "Who was in charge of placing those signs?"

The mirror responded by pointing to a midnight blue spiral who was napping on a pile of rocks near the back of the cluttered cavern before walking away.

Medley charged forward towards the long dragon but found herself stopped midstride. Her back foot was caught in a pile of some sort of clear sticky goo. She tugged and fought against the substance but couldn't free herself. The slime was worse then tree sap and frog spit!! She stopped struggling when a rumbling under her feet caught her attention and she looked around in a panic and caught sight of a fat bogsneak barreling towards her! Each heave of her powerful legs sent ripples through her fat and skin layers, causing a sort of whole body wave motion. And off the bogsneak flung.. slime!!??
WAS THIS THING THE SOURCE OF THE GOOEY PUDDLES!!???
Medley covered her head with her hands and braced herself for the worst!!! Within moments the bogsneak was on top of her and she was attacked ----
by a dragon tongue licking her furiously? True it was coated in the same sticky slime as the bogsneak (and half the lair) but the dragon seemed rather friendly. Medley greeted the dragon and was greeted back with silence and the bogsneak turning rather wall eyed. After a bit of trial and error she finally realized this dragon was closer to a pet then a dragon. She petted it's head fondly and the big sneak wagged it's tail. It's face was locked in concentration for a moment before it threw up....a roll of papertowels?
How convient.
Cleaning herself off and freeing her leg she proceeded to the spiraleft on the rocks and greeted him, "um. Hello. I was told that you were the one that placed the signs and I just wanted to say that they're pretty terrible and if you'd like some help--"
The spirals snores cut her off.
Medley huffed, "how rude."
One ofbags the spiral kept on him began moving and out popped a groggy looking brilliant psyworm! It looked at the slender mirror in front of it and chittered a few choice words in a language not easily understood. It scampered onto the spirals head and kicked his ear.
The dragon yelped and jumped into the air, "MIDNIGHT AWAKE! MIDNIGHT AWAKE!! Oh-..." he flicked his tongue out, "a customer, yes? Wanting to play a game of chance, yes?"
"Er...no?," Medley hesitated, "I just want to fix your signs: they're terrible."
Midnight nodded fiercely, nearly knocking the psyworm off his head! Poor thing had to grip tight with its front paws while it's back legs bounced wildly about! "Oh yesss," the dark spiral agreed, "theys is terriblesss," he pointed to a shadowed pile of....debris? "Over there is being stuff to fix. Having the fun!" He waved goodbye to Medley before going back to napping.
