B I O G R A P H Y

All children of the leaders of the Interlinea Clan are trained by their father Aubedian, and Rylin was no exception. The legendary warrior imparted all he could to his son while he had him, preparing him for the wider world and a life among peers in an allied clan. With such a background, it would be no wonder for the result to be a capable battler and peerless fighter, but Rylin rebelled. They do say there's at least one in every family.

When he arrived to Amarayne the clan still lived in the Reedcleft and the rapids in the gorges below were nearly his home. He learned how to navigate the roughest current and dodge obstacles in treacherous waters here and became the most adept swimmer in the clan. This did not mean he found still waters boring, far from it. If water was in it, so was Rylin. He still partakes in everything from ice-floe surfing to underwater cave diving. Fresh or saltwater does not matter to him, though these days he is usually in the harbor fishing or teaching the little ones how to swim.

Even Rylin knows that life can't be all play. Aside from bringing in a good deal of the clan's fish, he also surveys the waters that border the clan from the rivers to the ocean, looking for signs of trouble both in the ecosystem and from foes. While not as knowledgeable on marine life as Calder is, he does care deeply about it and will report any concerns. Thanks to his help, the protective wards surrounding the clan go underwater as well and are just as strong as they are on land.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Though he did largely dismiss his training, Rylin still loves his family. He taught his niece, who had initial trouble due to her anxieties about it, how to swim and asked any who came from his birth clan how his parents and siblings were doing. He admits that he isn't the best at visiting or keeping in touch, however, as days tend to slip away from him and he often forgets to sit down and write letters home. He hopes to visit home one day when his schedule (and guilt) allow him.

Aa one might expect, Rylin is a fun-loving fellow. It's better when everyone else is having a good time too, so he often invites anyone he comes across, no matter who they are, to join in on the fun when he gets the urge to play. His friendly nature and penchant for entertaining activities makes him popular with younger dragons and those who have a similar childlike heart as Rylin does. In turn he is also fond of the young and young at heart, but will happily invite the clan grump to join the fun.

Rylin will not shirk work and will put his nose to the grindstone like everyone else when needed, but he has his limits. If worked too hard for too long or if there is very little free time for an extended period of time his mood will begin to suffer. The more frustrated he gets, the less effective he becomes, and a grumpy Rylin will slow an operation down rather than help it. If the work is important, Rylin will push himself as he has enough discipline for that at least, but on things that are less vital he can't work up the willpower once his patience has run out.
