Biography
The Red Widow
The daughter of a spirit of lust and an unnamed mother, Rhuella came to be deep in the bowels of Shadow territory, where such things sometimes crawl out of the dark. She was born from a spirit, and the magic pooled in such a way that while she has some of her father's power, she is incapable of feeling that manner of attraction for another.
Rhuella believes with all her heart that that lack of attraction makes her special.
The Imperial used her gifts to lure her targets close, then split them stem to stern. Her targets, understandably, did not care for being split stem to stern. So Rhuella had to get good at fighting. She charmed her way into several different schools; Rhuella never needed money to get what she wanted. When she had no more use for them, Rhuella split them open. A ghastly calling card.
She had taken all the jobs in her area involving those she could charm with her power, so she did what any self respecting businesswoman would do: diversified, and increased her range. Soon she was killing everyone from the monstrous wartoad threatening clans, to the local creep that preyed on hatchlings. Somehow, Rhuella gained the reputation as a protector of women. A well deserved reputation, but odd nonetheless; most of her clients were women who wanted predatory men gone, but Rhuella was an opportunist more than anything.
Eventually, she decided to make her business a bit more... noble. Rhuella craved nobility, legitimacy, validation. Spirits of her father's type were understandably regarded as pariahs, and while Rhuella was fully flesh and blood, she longed to shake off her totally valid fears of merely being an opportunistic bloodthirsty predator. She started trying to find guardianship jobs... but, she found most nobles and "important people" to be just as petty and stupid as the unwashed masses. Eventually, she would get bored and wander away, more often than not taking little things of theirs on the way out.
Several such jobs later, she met Maela and Wave. They had something different in mind; not a guard, but a third partner for their fighting expeditions. After the first few excursions, Rhuella decided she wanted to stay forever. She found the easiest way to do that was to use her influential aura, and she tried to do so on the mated pair. Rhuella stumbled backwards when their auras also flared; each individually was just as strong as her own. Maela's blazed like the fire of a thousand suns, and Wave's was as vast as the ocean between the stars. They chastised her-- was that any way to treat a friend?
Friend. Rhuella had never made a friend before. She'd never cared to before now. Wave and Maela promised to let her continue to be their friend as long as she didn't try to use her gifts on them. The Red Widow has gotten better at socializing, with time, although she is still
