“It's like chess, you know. The Queen saves the King.”

Krieg doesn’t remember his family; he's not even entirely sure if there was a family before he found himself wandering aimlessly in the Tangled Woods. Why was he having trouble remembering such mundane things as his own name?

“How did I even get here,” he questions aloud as if the trees can answer, but is shocked when a voice speaks up from behind him.

“You walked here, I think that is quite obvious.”

Krieg turned around quickly, wings expanding in an attempt to appear more intimidating to his intruder. His mouth hung open slightly when he spotted the source of the voice in the trees. It was another dragon; a Mirror, if he remembered correctly.

Their eyes shone in a way he didn’t think possible. What was this feeling? Why did he feel drawn to this dragon he had never met? He cleared his throat, suddenly realizing he had been staring; he drew back a single wing to cover his scarred face, remembering that his outward appearance might abhor the stranger.

“Do you have a name?” Krieg peered somewhat shyly over the edge of his wing, a comical situation considering his size and demeanor.

Her voice was small, but he heard it as clear as a summer’s day.
“You can call me Kaza.”

Kaza. It's her. His charge.
