TooTime could have joined The Devoted when she arrived in the Glass Shatter. In fact, she would have been welcomed with open arms. Instead, she chose the life of an Outlier. Kind-hearted Gracin had practically begged her to stay with The Devoted. But The Devoted was given their subgroup name for a reason. They were all committed to a charge. TooTime didn't have a charge. She scoffed at the very idea. Why would she ever tie herself down to a single creature or thing for the rest of her life? Other guardians would consider her only half a dragon for this blasphemy, but she didn't care. At least that half was free. She was free to do what she wanted. Live where she wanted. Mate with whom she wanted. She could fall in love or lust. She could pursue her passions. Live out her dreams. --- And now, the mystery of the The Fortress of Ends drew her in. The inhospitable terrain, the ghastly flora and fauna, and the resilient inhabitants all fascinated her. Tied to no one, TooTime set out to find a clan to join. She stumbled upon the Glass Shatter and was quick to gain the favor of the matriarch. Aries immediately recognized the value in the unbidden guardian. Something about her name... but TooTime wasn't paying attention. She was staring up in awe at the forbidding ice towers surrounding them. She was snapped back to reality when a sweet guardian with warm, chocolate-brown eyes sidled up to her. Aries appointed TooTime as Gracin's charge. TooTime snorted and threw back her head in laughter, but the icy glare of the matriarch seemed to cut into her very soul. She gulped and stifled her reaction. Who was this little mirror to tell a guardian what her charge would be? A lifelong decision made in a split second on behalf of another? "You'll protect her, Gracin. If something should happen to her, then her blood is on you." Aries spun on her heel - pausing before hissing her last command - "Don't let her leave." TooTime bounded cheerfully behind Gracin as she began her tour of the Glass Shatter territory. It's a good thing she's easily distracted or the matriarch's final order before leaving the guardians alone would have terrified her. |
