Cascade’s early childhood was spent as an urchin on the docks of a small settlement situated on the border of the Shifting Expanse and the shores of the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Although he has never been formally trained in magic, Cascade has a natural ability for summoning storms, initially drawing lightning and great torrents of rain to himself unconsciously according to his emotions and inner state. During his childhood Cascade tried and failed to control his storms, but as he grew into adolescence he realized that the key wasn’t a matter of control, but conversation. He could reach out to the storm within him, and it would respond.

Cascade eventually left his hometown, and during his travels he met Cadence. Cadence and Cascade developed a deep bond, and often seem to know what each other are thinking without talking. The duo arrived at Valkama together, and with Cadence’s help Cascade figured out how his abilities could benefit his new clan. He calls up rain to keep the orchards and fields irrigated, working closely with Rudan, the woodward, and also draws dangerous weather away from the commune.
