______ Brought into the clan to serve as Orchid's mate, Cyclamen soon realized he had little in common with the duty-bound shaman. He was horrified when, after he and Orchid hatched their first nest, she proceeded to name every single offspring as unworthy and sent their souls to the Ones Apart. Desperate to be a parent to a child not doomed, Cyclamen tried several more times to produce worthy offspring with Orchid, to no avail. Every one of his children has been sent to the Ones Apart.

______ Nowadays, Cyclamen has redirected his spurned paternal energy to caring for those dragons and orphans captured by the Exultant Order, finding homes for those deemed worthy by his former mate and offering comfort by those marked for sacrifice. He has also been given permission by Orchid to pursue a relationship with Idora, the clan’s warchief, in the hopes of a more harmonious relationship—and perhaps a better chance of surviving hatchlings—than he had with Orchid.
