Biography

Not that sweet, not that stupid. She can eliminate any dragon that went in her way. Envious and dangerous.

Oh! There he is! There he is! Agne missed her little Pascal-pooh so, so much!

She pouts, remembering that he never bothered to say goodbye. Well, he never really paid her much attention. Except when she blew something up. Or mixed the wrong genes in his experiments. Or that time she burned his lab coat. And then there was -

Oh wait!!

Where was he going? He just arrived!

Calm down, Agne. He's just heading to his lab. Stupid, stupid Agne! Should've thought of that. Of course Pascal's heading to his lab. Where else would he go? She giggles to herself, then skips happily after him.

"Pascal! Pascal! You're back! Agne was so sad the whole time you were gone! What did you do? Where did you go? Did you see anything interesting? Agne should come with you next time. Agne promises she'll be good. She'll be soooo good! You'll see!"

He ignores her. Like he always does. But she doesn't mind. That's her Pascal-pooh! So cool!

Oh, what's he doing now? Agne has to see!

He's unwrapping a package very carefully.

"Oh! What is it? What is it? Agne LOVES presents! Is that for Agne? Agne is sooo happy Pascal bought her a present!" She's practically bursting with joy.

"Touch that and I'll rip your hand off." Pascal snaps at her. He's actually not sure why he hasn't killed her yet. So annoying.

She laughs. Agne is sure Pascal would never hurt her. Pascal loves her! Doesn't he? Of course he does! He just says those things to look cool.

He never once looks at her. Instead, he concentrates on the package. He takes out several beakers with bubbling purple and black liquid and arranges them carefully on his work table.

Ooohhh! Those look pretty dangerous! She bets they're poison! Hmmm, maybe enhanced toxins from Pascal's tusks? Yes, yes! That's probably it!

"Is that poison, Pascal? Can we try it on Subject #423? Please? Please? Puh-leaaaaase? Agne starved it for a week like you said! Agne electrocuted it for an hour every night like Agne promised she would. And Agne even extracted blood and saliva each morning like you said. Agne put labels and dates and everything! Agne is such a good girl!"

For the first time, Pascal smiles dangerously. Yes, she does have her uses.

"Yes, that's a good girl. Go get Subject #423 for me, Agne."

She gives a whoop of joy and bounces gleefully to the prison kennels.

"Agne is going to feed poison, feed poison, feed poison!" She singsongs cheerfully. Oh, she's so happy Pascal's back again. It's so boring without him. He lets her do fun things! She just loves him so much!

“She won’t leave me alone,” muttered Pascal into the crook of his elbow.

“Huh?”

Ludovico lifted his head, letting Newton catch a glimpse of the tortured look in his eyes. What could possibly have frightened a dragon--keeping well in mind that Pascal had mutilated his own brother, Grander, in a petty fit of jealousy--like Pascal this terribly?

Ludovico waited for an explanation, expecting a truly horrible description of the perpetrator and perhaps an account of their terrible deeds, but all that passed Pascal’s lips was a name: “Agne.”

“I--Pardon me?”

With another long-suffering glance, Pascal repeated the name. It was a full minute before the gravity of those words registered to Ludovico’s alcohol-addled mind. Pascal took another long swig from his glass.

“You’re afraid...of Agne?” He asked, still struggling to wrap his head around the concept of Pascal feeling fear.

Pascal stirred, then slammed a paw on the tabletop, making the mugs--and Ludovico--jump. The “No!” he roared was released with a (loud and very slurred) ferocity that made several dragons occupying the nearby tables turn to glare at them. When they realised that it was Pascal who had shouted, however, they quickly averted their gaze.

Ludovico stared self-consciously at the bottom of his mug. When Pascal got tipsy, he had a tendency to make his opinions known rather loudly and it was for this reason that he preferred by far to drink alone.

Ah, but his friend was troubled. It seemed a trifle...er, insignificant, perhaps, but who was he to judge?

The ‘problem’ in question appeared to be Agne: an Iceborn tundra with a tendency to get on everyone’s nerves, and Pascal most of all. She was well-meaning enough and very warm-hearted, but she was a few cards short of a deck and seemed to love poking her nose where it did not belong, i.e. in everyone else’s business.

It was this nosy nature that got her into trouble several times, but it was by the grace of the clan (and perhaps her deity looking out for her) that she was allowed to stay.

And she just so happened to be the bane of Pascal’s existence. It wasn’t that she hated Pascal--perish the thought. There wasn’t a mean bone in her body. She just adored the cold-hearted tundra, adored his work and research and his charming, albeit detached, ways. Given the chance, she’d glue herself to his side. Permanently.

Agne’s obsession only fuelled Pascal’s anguish. Oh, he could crush her like he would a fly, but she’d only come bouncing back every time with an excited and adoring grin on her face. This week alone she’d already hit almost every self-destruct button in Pascal’s probably-evil lab and blown it to the heavens twice.

Ludivico rubbed a tired claw over his face. This was a problem not even the most brilliant of scientists could solve. Even mad ones.

“What should I do?” Pascal asked, more to himself than to Ludivico . He was softly banging his head on the table, a muffled thump resounding everytime his head hit the wood.

Ludivico shrugged. He took another swig from his mug resignedly. Agne was truly an unstoppable force, and he could swear on the Icewarden’s furry behind that it would take an impossible effort to get rid of something that had the will and brightness of several Suns.
