A small Fae born of the water, from a young age Ailana was gifted. Water would heed to her call, and listen to her every command. Her tribe trained her in her powers, hoping that one day the girl would become a powerful dragon. However, Ailana never wanted this future. She would spend long nights in her nest comforted by books. She loved to read everything, but what fascinated her the most was the history and culture of her people and others.

When Ailana became old enough, she told her tribe that she wished to see the world. They were devastated, but their clan leader had understood. He had known that she wasn't born to be a powerful mage, but rather a scholar, using her magic as a means to keep her protected. Slowly, the other clan members came to an understanding, and with a tearful goodbye, wished her well.

Ailana spent many years traveling all over the world. Documenting old ruins, gathering artifacts and old treasures, and learning the stories first hand from other dragon clans. Eventually, her travels brought her to a harsh desert. She wasn't about to let it stop her though, and knew her magic would keep her safe like it always had. However, the desert had dried up her magic, she had no water around to protect her. She eventually collapsed in the sand, unable to go farther. She knew this was it, and she cried out to the water, knowing that surely her journey couldn't be over already. Eventually though, her world turned dark around her.

When she awoke, she found herself in a small hut with no one around. All her belongings were sitting on a table next to her. She quickly gathered everything up, eager to continue her journey when the door opened, revealing a Wildclaw, coated in sand. He introduced himself as Gildi, and explained that he had found her in the sands and had nursed her back to health. Ailana gave him a quick thanks, and left to continue on her journey. However, Gildi refused to let her go, saying that the desert was too dangerous for someone like her. She wouldn't listen, she knew she was perfectly capable of protecting herself, her pride too strong to accept the help of another. But he just wouldn't listen, and she found herself in the company of the dragon whether she wanted him there or not.

They both travelled across the desert, exploring old ruins and caves. Although Ailana would never admit it, she was grateful for his help. He always offered to carry things for her, especially artifacts that she knew she would've had no hope of carrying alone. And he kept her safe in places her magic couldn't reach. She was stubborn though, and would always chastise him for walking to hard or making too much noise in the quiet caves she had come to know and love. Eventually though, she had come to appreciate his company, and even developed a bond to him. The two remained partners even when they had left the desert, and Ailana had realized she had discovered her most precious treasure yet.
