ANNEMETTE
The gilded cage


One of the youngest children of Envy and Aranck, Annemette was hatched with weak wings, the bones fragile and thin. This condition prevented her from flying—she could not even move very quickly, or be in crowded spaces, for fear of injury. Because of this, Annemette's parents kept her at home, carefully doted upon and isolated, while the rest of her clutchmates left her behind.

Annemette grew up to be graceful and beautiful, with an eye for fashion and an encyclopedic knowledge of etiquette. Having spent most of her life separated from others, most of what Annemette knows about social interaction comes from her books. Her family treats her carefully, as if she were a valuable vase liable to breakage. Even Envy, her notoriously harsh mother, is overly gentle with her. As a result, Annemette is shy, and somewhat awkward and overly-formal. She spends most of her time putting together outfits and observing the latest fashion trends from a distance. Annemette likes to read, both to feed her omnipresent love of clothes, and because she's a bit of a hopeless romantic, and is particularly fond of whimsical fairy tales and fantasy stories with dashing heroes and grand adventures.
