Born a poor hatchling in a large lair of the Molten Scar. Nothing particularly special, aside from his eyes, which burned sienna brown like the the setting sun. As he grew, he began to see himself as a prince, a priest, a prophecy bearer. He felt he was different from the rest- but don't we all, as young sparks? Indeed, his magic and foresight was strong. Sometimes he felt his heartbeat humming in tune with the rhythm of the universe. His predictions were accurate, his vision sharp. He had a small following of friends and disciples, who trusted his visions and prophecies. Yet, even this went unnoticed, as the Ashfall Waste was in political turmoil. In the midst of the conflict, the wisdom of seers fell by the wayside, worthless to most in the Fire flight. Léandre was forced to work in the forges for a living. Léandre loved to drink and party, and spent every free hour doing exactly that. Instead of seers and learned dragons, he hung out around poor working dragons. He lost his book smarts, but gained street smarts and common sense. During those long hours at the forge, visions still came to him. Just as he'd lost hope of ever having a comfortable future, his world turned. In the forges before his eyes, Léandre saw a bloody ambush. Beastclan soldiers invading the nursery of a Light flight clan, brutally killing the guard, taking eggs and hatchlings away into the night. Léandre immediately left his job- though he knew he would be fired for it. He set out to find the clan he saw in his vision. He'd seen their insignia. He'd recognized the dusty halls of the Hewn City, whose forlorn spirits had sent him the vision through torchlight. In two days he found them: Clan Chiaroscuro. Just in time to prevent the attack, weary and breathless, he shared the story of his vision. He was richly rewarded, taking his place among the glamorous seers of Chiaroscuro. Life rewards not good or evil, but those who exist in the right place at the right time. |
