Seaspray

He stood upon his ship, The Compass, and smiled as a salty breeze blew through his feathers. He took a swig of rum from his flask, before unsheathing his sword. The metal gleamed in the bright sunlight and the endless water around him was like a sheet of silver.
This is what he lived for, moments like these, alone on the open ocean. Alone with nothing but Golly and kegs of rum. He took a cracker from his pouch and placed it into his grateful companion’s beak.
“Davey Jones is going to pay,” He spat upon the wooden boards of the deck.
“Hey? Seaspray? What did I tell you about that poor bird?” Seaburst stood beside the rock, staring up at the drunk Skydancer, “That thing is absolutely stuffed!”
“What do ya mean?” His words came out slurred and he nearly fell over, “She loves it, don’t ya Golly?” He scratched the bird’s chin, and planted a sloppy kiss on her head.
“Love, you’re wasted,” She stated bluntly and came over to steady him, “Let’s get you back to camp, alright?”
“But Javey Dones!” He muttered.
“I know, but that can wait till tomorrow,” Seaburst gently guided him back to the path, “You shouldn’t drink so much,”
“The sea!” Seaspray cried and attempted to take his flask once more but she snatched it quickly out of his claws.
“You can see the ocean in your head, can’t you? You needn’t no rum,” She spat out her words harshly, but then again, was there ever a time when she hadn’t?
Seaspray sighed and turned to face her, “The everything is my ship, it’s hard here in the forest, with no waves on my claws,”
She managed a smile, “I know, but rum isn’t going to solve it, one day you’ll get out there, I promise,”
“Really?”
“I swear on my life,” She curled her tail around him, and began to lead him back, “Now rest alright?”
“Fine,”
Seaspray curled up in his nest, and closed his eyes, the sound of salty water lapping the side of the boat still echoed in his ear. He could almost feel the wind, taste the briney air, feel the heat on his back. Quietly he muttered to himself,

Sings sea shanties every night much to the clan’s dismay
Has a rock in the woods he calls his ship
Stands on the rock and swings a stick around screaming shanties
Really wishes he was in the Water Flight
Sometimes throws salt into the local pond, again to the clan’s dismay considering they usually bath there
Hates when people say typical pirate slang like ‘Arg!’ and ‘Shiver me timbers!’ and takes great offense to it
Doesn’t know who ‘Davey Jones’ is but is determined to fight him
Chugs rum
His parrot is named Golly and everyone is confused
Shoves crackers down his parrot’s throat
His sexuality is the sea
Wants so so desperately to be a real pirate
Illitye, who he always calls Captain, shows him ways to be a ‘real’ one
He mainly just makes Seaspray do ridiculous tasks but Seaspray doesn’t mind
He just wants to be a pirate after all
And a real pirate does what the captain says
