Priest of the Lightweaver

”May the light's blessing be upon you.”

It was a bright, glorious day in the Sunbeam Ruins. Golden waves of sunlight filtered down onto a lone egg in the temple’s back room. A priest of the highest standings watched over the egg, wondering what curiosity their shadow brethren left them years ago. The nocturnes had brought them many eggs over the years, few of which qualified to serve the golden Goddess in their land. They sent these children of trickery off to new lands, hoping they’ll find their purpose in their wanderings. This small purple egg was the last left to hatch.

The priest sighed, thinking this small egg would be left unhatched forever. It showed no signs of movement: no warmth of life radiated from the shell. The old priest picked up the egg, moving to take it to the disposal area when he tripped over his pearl. The egg flew from his arms and fell to the ground with a nasty crack. The priest looked up in horror as a small body rocked out of the egg. A tiny nocturne colored as brilliantly as the sunlight surrounding him rolled out of the egg and bagan squeaking in the small purr of a hatchling.

The priest was overjoyed that the egg had proven viable and had appeared to hatch a true priest candidate from the order. He stood and picked up the small hatchling from his scatter shell. With this motion, the hatchling finally opened his eyes to reveal a milky white gaze instead of one of the usual elements.

It was soon discovered that the hatchling was completely blind. He would never be able to behold the radiance the priests held so dear. He also seemed to be magically stunted. Whatever his element was meant to be when his egg was hatched seemed to scramble. He seemed to be an ice dragon, but he never manifested the ability to manipulate the magic within him.

However, this did not discourage the hatchling from learning from the priests. Areli grew to devoutly follow the teachings of the light, showing far more promise than sighted light born students. Areli soon learned all that the priests knew, graduating to be a priest himself. In celebration of his achievements, he chose to become more like the light’s image. After collecting enough alms from the temple goers, Areli was given the gift of a Pearlcatcher scroll. With in moments, he was complete. There was nothing more he could do to become more of the light.

Given his improvements, Areli decided to preach the grace of the light to other realms. At the moment, he has stationed himself at a small temple in an Arcane marketplace, giving the wisdom of the light to all of the chaotic children of magic.
