Some few dragons born under the Flamecaller's aegis possess no ability to use their native magic. As lava lives and flows and burns, then hardens into frozen obsidian, so too their own ability to use magic no longer burns within them, having become something entirely different, and leaving on them the mark of it. The stone sacred to the Flamecaller, it's believed, that neither melts nor burns, and can take an edge sharper than steel. The Obsidian Cohort they're known as, the Flamecaller's specially honed blades who fight for her glory. They are especially fearsome warriors, and immune to the effects of magic. Shortly after Teiwaz won the position of Matriarch, and made known her agenda to bring her clan and flight to glory above all others, Norveiga arrived. He did not need to announce or introduce himself. The obsidian scales he bore said all that was needed. He is believed by most of the clan to be a symbol that the Flamecaller approves of Teiwaz and her rulership of the clan. Norveiga is a fearsome sight in battle. The massive imperial cuts down all who stand before him, magic glancing off him as harmlessly as claws glance off his armor. He is as destructive and single-minded in his battle-fury as a raging fire, an awe inspiring sight so long as he's on your side. Out of battle, he is equally as dedicated in his devotion to the Flamecaller. He is a dragon of few words, not the sort to give eloquent speeches of Her power, nor a charismatic leader to gather all under Her banner, but his personal belief in Her glory is so evident that those around him feel calm and certain in their own. He considers all Fire flight dragons his kin, part of an extended clan. But those who betray the Ashfall Waste, or turn away from the Flamecaller, are forever cast out of his regard and treated as traitors should he meet them. |
