The White Half of the Yinyang

Centuries ago there was a fierce some two headed emperor dragon that was called the Yinyang. The Yinyang may have had only two heads, but it was more powerful than any emperor dragons that came before it. The Yinyang had terrorized clans all over Sornieth. All of the gods emerged from their shrines to fight this powerful emperor dragon and fought the two-headed creature for over a decade. In end, however, the gods defeated the emperor dragon...or at least they thought they had.

As the emperor dragon fell to its death, the creature divided into two imperial dragons. The gods did not see the emperor dragon split apart so when they found Yin lying unconscious on the ground, the deities assumed two things: Yin was the weakened form of the Yinyang and there weren’t any other parts of the Yinyang that were unaccounted for. The Tidelord wanted to make sure the Yinyang never returned to its full power so he took Yin into the depths of the Leviathan Trench and imprisoned her there.

Centuries later, Leonardo and Fiona were sunbathing in the Tsunami Flats, while the adult dragons were arguing about something in the world of politics. Fiona, who was only a hatchling at the time, had been extremely bored. She challenged Leonardo to a diving contest. Leonardo wanted to wait for the adult dragons to come back before they began their contest, just in case something bad happened. Fiona explained to Leonardo that the adults would ruin all the fun so they shouldn’t wait for the them. Leonardo still didn’t think it was a good a idea, but Fiona started calling him a chicken so Leonardo felt like he had to except Fiona’s challenge to save his small fragment of pride.

The two hatchlings swam out to the Leviathan Trench and began their diving contest. Now, Fiona could breathe under water and Leonardo could use dark magic to give him the ability to breathe under water so the competition was really about who could withstand the most pressure underwater versus who could hold their breath the longest. Fiona and Leonardo dove deep into the Leviathan Trench. Fiona decided to return to the surface within an hour, but Leonardo continued to swim. The coatl dragon was so focused on diving he hadn’t noticed Fiona start to swim upward.

Leonardo swam for so long his spell began to where off. Luckily, Leonardo found an undersea cave that had air trapped inside of it just before he passed out. Although, once the coatl dragon got inside of the cave, he began to cry because he realized he wouldn’t be able to reach the surface again. He needed to look at his mother’s spell casting scroll, which was back in the Aquafire Clan’s lair, to remember the specific words and sounds to preform the water-breathing spell.

Little did the coatl know, the cave he was now trapped in was also Yin’s prison cell. Yin had heard Leonardo crying and pitied the poor hatchling. Yin emerged from the shadows of her cell and gently patted Leonardo on the back. Leonardo had been a little scared of Yin at first, but the imperial dragon’s friendly demeanor and soft voice made the coatl dragon feel inclined to trust Yin. Yin told Leonardo that if he could free her somehow then she would gladly take him back home.

By some miracle, Leonardo had remembered the barrier-breaking spell his mother, Callora, had taught him. Leonardo used the spell on the cave’s exit and broke the Tidelord’s ancient curse that had kept Yin trapped. Yin did as she had promised and carried Leonardo the surface.

Other members of the Aquafire Clan (including Leonardo’s and Fiona’s parents) had noticed the disappearance of Leonardo and Fiona and had begun searching, desperately, for the hatchlings. The older members of the Aquafire Clan had found Fiona, but once they learned that Leonardo was still underwater they began frantically searching for the coatl hatchling. When Yin emerged from the water, the members of the Aquafire Clan were overjoyed. Leon and Nira said Yin could stay in the Aquafire Clan for as long as she liked. The imperial had no where else to go so she happily took up Nira and Leon on their offer. In truth, Yin did not remember any of her life as an emperor dragon. She had never known why the Tidelord had imprisoned her in the Leviathan Trench, but Yin was so happy to be in the sunlight she didn’t care. Although, even in the sunlight, Yin still left a deep sense of incompleteness she could never shake.

Personality: Yin is very shy and soft-spoken. She prefers to spend time with a small group of dragons rather than a large crowd. The imperial dragon couldn’t hurt a fly and can’t stand to see small creatures in pain (whether it be mental or physical). Yin is often lost in thought and very quiet by nature.

Clan Position: Yin often helps Rosette and Amora look after the hatchlings while their parents are away for various reasons. The imperial dragon will occasionally help out the Aquafire Clan’s scavenging team too whenever extra assistance is needed. Since Yin has extremely powerful water magic, the imperial dragon is registered as one of the Aquafire Clan’s official warriors and is willing to fight if need be.

Familiar: Narcissa had hated all of dragonkind since the day her father was killed by a dragon. She had been hell bent on getting the dragon clans to tear each other apart. Narcissa was sailing to the Aquafire Clan to spread lies about the VeroKitty Clan there. However, Narcissa’s ship got caught in a storm and was being to sink. Miraculously, Yin had heard Narcissa’s cry for help and rescued her. Because of Yin’s act of kindness, Narcissa slowly began to forgive dragonkind for her father’s death and later, became good friends with Yin. Narcissa can be a bit pessimistic at times, but she understands Yin better than most dragons and enjoys the imperial’s company.
