Biography
FIREOPAL
Jewelry-Designer & Gem Appraiser
Jewelry-Designer & Gem Appraiser
|
A materialistic, bubbly and capricious dragon, it's pretty obvious she's got a thing for gems. No, really, her life is dominated by gemstones—she wears it on her wings, she adorns herself with jewelry and is mated to a coatl named Wulfenite, she's all about that bling. Her gem appreciation seems to manifest in other surprising ways. For example, FireOpal, a coatl with a particular fondness for sour flavors, is the sole creator of sour-flavored candies on Scorched Rock called Fizzy Rocks and Crystal Candy. They're a huge hit with the hatchlings, and even the adults have been known to sneak a few clawfuls when they think no one's looking. Her candy-making was passed on to other members of the Clan, her one true love being the glittery Unsurprisingly, FireOpal was born in the Southern Icefields, and they say she first fell in love with all things that glitter and glint when she saw how icicles looked in the morning sun. Ever since then, she's been utterly enchanted, and left for the Ashfall Waste as soon as she could, lured there by the promise of minerals and gems ripe for the mining. Perhaps both fortunately and unfortunately, FireOpal never made it to the Ashfall Waste, but instead landed on the nearby island of Scorched Rock, where she met a plethora of interesting coatls, but it was because of Wulfenite that she never completed her journey. Immediately taken with the young gembonded coatl who had already braved the depths of the earth for all manner of glinting things, they formed a partnership based on their mutual interests in creating jewelry. They developed their own little 'workplace romance' of sorts, to which the many other apprentices found a little annoying when it began to interfere with their work, but as they matured, their affections matured right along with them. They were mates before long, and together they've made not only spectacular jewelry of which the Clan takes great pride in exporting to the other regions, but they've sired many hatchlings, each one no less beautiful than the last. She has experienced many blessings in her life, and because of this she maintains a reverent view of the Flamecaller. FireOpal has crafted her own altar to the fiery deity, and its a gilt testament to her faith as well as a reminder to always give thanks where and when it's due. Superficial and a little vain, FireOpal tends to judge many on their appearances first, and though Vanir and Freya may hail from the Southern Icefields, their bleached coloring gives FireOpal great cause to shy away from them, finding the hues unnatural on their species. A little of her shallowness is likely to have passed on to her offspring, though Wulfenite tries to curb any suspicions and prejudices from manifesting in their young. |
