Biography

~Slippery Slimy Sala~

I'm sorry, this dragon isn't here right now. We've been looking for him, see, for a very long time, and we aren't entirely sure where he went. This happens a lot with him, he just sort of goes missing sometimes. He's awfully pleased when you find him though, why, once he vanished for a whole three weeks. Three weeks, not a peep. We thought a hungry Mauler got him, but nope. Went to get something out of the toolbox and out he pops! 'New record!' he says.

Do you know how hard it is to get a refund on a gravestone?

Do you?

Surprise! You can't.

Mander's Hiring
Quote:
The sound of fluttering wings interrupts the peace and solace of the gladekeeper's realm, as a abnormally large fae drops in to visit with this strange, new clan.

His name was none other than Basil, the Patriarch of clan Windbloom, and though he seemed dainty, the blue and white fae was far from fragile.

Approaching who he could sense was the clan leader, Basil spoke, in softer, just barely not monotone speech, introducing himself...
And sharing the reason why he had came.
"We are hiring mercenaries to protect our ship... And I do believe I've stumbled across an advertisement for this... Mander of yours. Now, may I ask a few questions? His element, his personality, and his abilities are all very important matters... Also, may I see him myself?"

The Fae held no interest in idle chit-chat, which, unbeknownst to the clan leader, was a highly unusual act of his.
Quote:
Irda didn't seem even slightly perturbed by the visitor. She smiled placidly and flicked her ears, listening patiently. "Yes, Mander is selling his services. Looking for new pastures, new battles, I think he said. He's Fire Flight, and..." She trailed off and looked around, muttering under her breath. Suddenly, she shouted across the clearing to a towering Guardian. "Hesti! Hesti love, have you seen Mander?"

'Hesti' shook her head slowly. "No."

The tundra turned her one good eye back to her visitor, looking a little perplexed. "Ah, well, I thought he could describe himself to you." She cocked her head to the side, as if thinking carefully. "He's... patient, for a spiral. He likes surprising people. Very much enjoys hiding when there's nothing better to do, perhaps likes it too much- We've assumed he was dead a few times because of it, had a nice stone marker made up and everything, his brother insisted on it. But as it turned out, he was alive after all. Found him, who found him, uh.... hm. Not sure. Cloral maybe? Found him. Had been curled up in a little toolbox for several weeks. We still have the marker, he'll probably bring it with him. Not that you're liable to need it." She added hurridly. "He's a fine warrior, very fast. Very strong. Not the sturdiest dragon on the field, but he'll weather a few blows. Works very well with kids actually. Not a bad teacher if you need one." The tundra paused and seemed to consider something. "The hiding works rather well for him actually, he's very good at ambushes."

Irda rose to her feet. "But if you want to hire him, we'll have to find him first- He can't be terribly far." She sniffed the ground, then hmmed to herself. "You might consider putting a bell on him. Follow me, he might be this way."
Quote:
Basil dipped his head in thanks, following the tundra as she moved forward, searching.

A spiral who possessed patience?
One who would hide until found?
...Perhaps the Windbloom would be too big of a place for him- with so many hiding places. He would probably have to play a whole clan-wide game just to find many of these places, so he'd know where to look.
"He seems like an excellent dragon to hire... He'll probably enjoy the airship if he loves hiding that much... Though I worry if he finds too good of a place, he may just hide there and actually starve to death. We'll probably have to keep a close eye on him, perhaps even tie a bell around his neck as you've suggested. In fact- that's not a bad idea at all!"

He followed, deeper and deeper into the depths of the forest- which in reality was only a few trees in. Okay, maybe more than 50 trees in, but still. The Gladekeeper's realm could get pretty thick and dark rather quickly.
Quote:
"He hasn't starved yet. Who knows, maybe with you he'll reach his limit."

Irda sniffed at the ground and snorted. Attempting to track a spiral on ground was ridiculous- they were rarely on the ground long enough to leave a scent trail- tracking Mander would be absolutely impossible. So she did the next best thing: She'd have to lure him out.

Thick as the trees were, it wasn't hard to find other dragons. Irda left each of them a message (Some of them she left two, if she crossed paths with them again. No one seemed concerned about the memory lapse.), asking them to pass along that there was a visitor here searching for Mander. A visitor who was interested in hiring the wayward spiral.

It didn't take much longer for a skinny black dragon to come hurtling through the trees and begin circling the outsider, chirping his greetings and salutations and queries as to whether he was really looking to hire a good mercenary- and he swore in the same breath that he was an excellent mercenary, top notch, really spectacular, Basil wouldn't regret a thing.

It might be important to note that Basil hadn't actually said a word to Mander before the spiral launched into his elevator pitch.
Quote:
Basil chuckled, thinking about it.
Wasn't it strange for a fae to laugh? Perhaps not.

"Perhaps he will... But then again, he could always have food with him..."

With surprise, Basil witness the curling mess of black headed his way.
He could only watch as the overeager spiral circled overhead, spouting off a long string of words- Basil wasn't quite sure how he didn't pass out in the middle of that.

Basil pulled out a hat, a dusty looking one, the black leather almost cracked from exposure, but thankfully it didn't look bad yet.
A feather, a red feather, sprouted and stood tall from the hat, and Basil held the hat up to the spiral as an offering.
"Welcome to the Windbloom... We'll pay quite well, and you'll have quite the nice place to stay... When you're not doing your job, of course."
