heyo yall! i was thinking about my art shop last night and i had an epiphany...........

how to price your art (for fodder)!!

ok so pricing yourself is really hard. but when you decide to make AFF it gets even harder. how do you convert something with so many variation? 25 levels can get you 56k or 38k depending on how many dragons are involved (25 and 1 respectively, taken from here)

although this guide's meant for AFF artists, you could have a level : treasure ratio (like i do) or do some math to find out more or less how much treasure exalting that many dragons will earn you. after all, exalting is one of the most common/reliable ways of getting $$ here

with that out of the way,

how to price your art (for fodder)!!

first of all, i've decided level 6 to be the maximum level people will get. there are exceptions, but when you're bulk leveling this is the most comfortable, and most of the time i'm paid with lvl 6s.

so, how long does it take to level a dragon to 6?

on the GW with workshop workers: 5 minutes (according to the guide)
on the mire (2 at once): 3 minutes (according to me)

fun fact: 5 minutes in the mire will give ya 14 levels! i was pretty surprised ngl. i wasn't planning to add this to the guide but well now i am


then, how many levels can you get in an hour?

GW: (60/5)*6 = 72
mire (lvl 6): (60/3)*12 = 240
mire (lvl 7): (60/5)*14 = 280

another fun fact: the mire is great, even better than i thought it was (and it's my favorite venue!)


yall know what this means? it means you should charge at the very least 72 levels/hour - although i'd say a minimum of 144 levels/hour is fairer (more fair?)

on top of that, some things to consider:

overestimate the time it takes you to do stuff. so if you usually take one hour to do something, add ~15 minutes to that, in case you get a particularly tricky commission
how's the effort of what you're making compare to the effort of leveling? this is kinda personal i guess but you might wanna think about it
you might not feel confident about charging all this, i know it! but take a look:

i used to charge 40 levels/hour. taking mire numbers, that's 13 minutes!
is 60 minutes of your time creating art the same to a quarter of that time pressing buttons? (sorry levelers! no intent to offend!)
value yourself!!
