Snowmelt opened her electric blue eyes. The breeze blew by and grass blades danced with the tulips besides her. She must have fallen asleep while relaxing in the sun because as she looked up she saw the Kites already heading out to train for the day. There were only a few of them now, but she knew many many more would come. There were always so many of them. She would have to start coming up with a new story for the new Kites that were sure to come because she didn’t want the old Kites to be bored by the same stories. But she knew she had another story to share first, because after the adults left soon the hatchlings came.

“Auntie Auntie!” cried a magenta spotted Spiral. “Tell us a story!”

“Ya a story!” “An amazing story!” cried the two other spirals.

She chuckled and looked at all the hatchlings. “What kind of story would all you like today?”

“One about Windsinger!” squeaked Huxley

“A story about Windsinger, huh?”

“About Windsinger’s beginning and the Windswept Plateau.” hollered Unavyre

“Are you sure? Haven’t all of you heard this story before?”

“But Windsinger is so long and amazing.”

Snowmelt chuckled at the Guardian’s explanation. “Alright little ones, here is the story of Windsinger.” And with that Snowmelt started her story. She started with the first four dragon deities. About how they came and formed the land, but put more detail into Windsinger’s part of the story. She talked about the confrontation Windsinger and Tidelord had that brought about Stormcatcher. As she started to explain about how the pillar was formed she noticed three of the five hatchlings fiddling with grass or bamboo.

“What are you doing young ones?” she asked, but as soon as she questioned what they were doing Chase snatched Snowmelt’s hat from her head.

“Nan, you need to finish your story” the hat steeling Spiral demanded
“Give me my hat back and I will continue the story.”

The white and blueish Spiral paused for a second and then agreed to the deal and returned the hat to Snowmelt. She continued her story form where she left off forgetting why she stopped in the first place. She told about how the Shade came and how the pillar was made. She briefly explained about how the pillar was destroyed and went into great detail about how Windsinger found the Windswept Plateau and how he made it his territory where wind dragons would be hatched from.

After she finished the story she noticed all the hatchlings gathered very close together. Before Snowmelt could ask about their suspicious behavior, the hatchlings in front moved aside to revealed a hat weaved together with grass that had a few pieces of bamboo within and a tulip sticking out from the top.

“We made you a hat!” cried Heracles

“Will you wear it?” asked Chase

“Of course young ones” she responded as she took off her laureate’s cap and replaced it with her new grass hat. At that moment Snowmelt’s dear friend Turtle appeared.

“It’s time to eat everyone!” the denim Snapper joyfully exclaimed. All the hatchlings soon ran off to their meal leaving Turtle and Snowmelt to follow after them.

“Where’d you get that new hat, Snow?” Turtle asked

“This set of hatchlings made it for me.” Snowmelt smiled

“These ones are quite talented.”

“Indeed they are. It will be hard to say goodbye to these ones, not that it’s easier with any others. But they love Windsinger so much and I know they’ll have a marvelous time with him.”

“Hurry up Nan!” a few of the hatchlings chirped.

“I’m coming little ones.” She smiled as she knew she would only have so much more time with them before they would grow large enough to enter the Coliseum and then be off to see Windsinger.
