“The dead make good soldiers. They can't disobey orders, never surrender, and don't stop fighting when a random body part falls off.”

To heal is to destroy. The ability to create life, and to sustain it, is the exact same as the ability to tear a living creature to pieces, to rend it limb from limb, to leave it breathless, chest heaving in the ashes, crushed in the rubble and dirt. This is something that few others understand. Shadebloom knows it well, though. Has balanced both life and death on a razor’s edge, and always come out the victor. Although he leaves a trail of broken clans in his wake, Shadebloom has no regrets for the things that got him where he was now.

Shadebloom had many trials and errors throughout his life, losing many to death and being unable to bring them back because he was just not strong enough. It seemed that death followed in his wake. He was a young dragon, but he thirsted for power. So when he was found by a wandering dragon to bring someone back, he nearly declined. But for some reason, he agreed. And somehow, some way, Shadebloom brought the older snapper back. Though in the process, he had mistakenly taken the other dragon's lifeforce to bring Judas back. That dragon, a nameless one, was in turn turned into a whisper of the wind. Together he and Judas traveled, picking up a loyal Death Seeker - whom he had named Nagash - on the way. Soon enough, they came to the grove and were welcomed into Hollowshade with open claws, despite them knowing what he was.

RELATIONSHIPS

A lost Death Seeker that Shadebloom had come across on his travels with Judas. The bird had taken a liking to Shadebloom, and thus blossomed a wonderful companionship between the necromancer and the Death Seeker. Shadebloom had named the creature Nagash, a name that was unfamiliar to him but just felt right for the Murderous creature.

Judas was the first that Shadebloom had ever successfully risen from the grave without any setbacks. But bringing him back had a price for the dragon who had come to him to raise Judas. Thankfully, Judas didn’t seem to have any memories of his past life. Shadebloom had to teach him how life worked from the time he reanimated the large snapper. They had an odd friendship, but Shadebloom was the only family Judas now knew of.

Every Necromancer needs a Mentor, and Shadebloom found his in a Guardian who ended up being Death reincarnate. Even if Death had arrived after Shadebloom, they were far more knowledgeable than that of the young Necromancer, who still felt he had much to learn. So Death took him under her wing, teaching him all he would need to know about raising those she claimed.

HISTORY

Born to two Lightning Element Coatls, it was unsure of how Shadebloom and his siblings came out as Shadow Elements. But for Shadebloom, he took it as a sign. As a young hatchling, the dark Coatl took a liking to the darker side of magic, specifically Necromancy. It was at such a young age that he began wondering about The Tangled Wood, attempting to bring back miniscule things that had passed away. The only problem was that things were either deceased for too long, or - in Shadebloom’s eyes - he was too weak to reanimate anything. He was angry at this, angry at the fact he wasn't powerful enough. So he thought perhaps he should try on larger things.

It was then he began taking requesting to bring back deceased family pets or someone's deceased familiar. Shadebloom had managed to resurrect successfully a handful of times, though they all ended up having bad repercussions such as a family pet becoming aggressive, rabid, or even murderous. Or a familiar becoming ravenous and bloodthirsty. But by the time any of that happened, Shadebloom was far away and on the road once more. He worked as a traveling Necromancer, hiding his true name from anyone to avoid being targeted and wearing a cloak that hid his body for the same reason. That way, nobody would recognize him. He was young, but he was still power hungry.

One day, an elderly dragon came across Shadebloom and asked him to bring back his biggest task yet : another dragon. He was out of disguise, but the elder never asked his name or payment, only asked if he would do it no matter the stakes, just so he may see him once more before his time. Shadebloom nearly said no, but upon seeing the Snapper's face, agreed and set about doing it. Within a few hours it was successful, but with one drawback: The elder dragon who had asked him to do such a task was no longer. He hadn't realized that the lifeform he was drawing from was that dragon of which Shadebloom had never learned the name of. Shadebloom felt bad, but knew that the elder dragon was now with Judas no matter what.

When asked what he remembered, the snapper had replied in a hoarse voice "Judas. I remember my name was Judas. But..I do not remember anything else.". Shadebloom took the information with a nod and told him who he was, what he was. Judas had appeared sad for a moment, speaking only one phrase. "So I had died, huh." to which Shadebloom had nodded to. The large dragon merely shrugged it off and the two began their journey back to The Tangled Wood, picking up a lost Death Seeker on the way. The murderous, nearly blind bird had taken a liking to Shadebloom and Judas, often riding on the necromancers head. When they had come across a clearing in Wispwillow Grove, Shadebloom was startled by a voice speaking to him from seemingly nowhere until he had spotted another Coatl atop a large rock. He introduced himself as Aster, head of Clan Hollowshade. He had welcomed the two into the Clan without needing to hear their story. It was here Shadebloom decided to call home, settling down in a cave with his dear friend, and even making a few other friends in the process.

» Shade-Touched. Unsure of how or when he became so, but has managed to keep the infection from taking over entirely due to a elixir of his own creation.
» Used Yarrow as a test subject, successfully made her Shade - Touched, but gave her enough of the elixir to be able to survive for a month at most until the infection spread.
