"Aerope! What have you got?" Iterisk called back to her brother, for seemingly the umpteenth time. She wished she had been given control of the detector, as while she understood her brother's personality, he had always been much more easily distracted than she was.
"Oh! Right! Did you see these structures, though? It looks like they were made specifically to store the storm's power!" Aerope responded, causing Iterisk to grip her forehead in irritation.
"They're just like the ones we have at home, Aer." She sighed, not even caring to glance back at him. The Spires were all around them, she did not understand why he had to stop at one so far behind. "Did you forget what we're here for?"
"Ugh, you're no fun, Ittie!" Her brother groaned. "They're not the same, though. They're better! I want to bring this technology back with us so our clan can use it."
The thought worried Iterisk, since she knew that soon they would be encroaching onto another clan's territory - if they weren't already. "Maybe on our way back, we can examine them." She swirled anxiously around to face him. "But right now, we have to find the source of this energy!"
"All right, all right." Aerope flew his way over, taking the detector out of his coat. He pointed over to the largest storm Spire, which lightning seemed to be striking nonstop - but the lightning was not coming from the sky, rather it seemed to be coming up from the ground. The booms seemed louder than any storm they had heard back home. "That's strange... Looks like it's that way."
The two Spirals flew as linearly as they could toward the massive gold-coloured pillar, the multitude of lightning strikes inspiring anxiety within them. Iterisk felt a great urge to turn back, one her brother likely shared. "This is definitely it!" She heard her brother yell over the thunder, which increased in volume the closer they got. "These numbers are off the charts!"
Once they were close enough, Iterisk saw something at the base of the Spire and halted in her flight path. There was a dragon, an Imperial, sitting as if he was praying.
Iterisk shot in front of her brother to stop him before they were seen, causing them both to tumble and crash into the ground.
(I know I fall out of my lore sometimes, but I'll get to it eventually...)
