Unlike Tyrell, Anja is mortal. She took the marsh within the forest as her charge, and met Tyrell as a result. While Tyrell is mostly solitary and resides solely withing the woods, Anja occasionally ventures into Sunrise Valley to trade herbs, bones, and other things to the witch Stregganona.

Anja was the one to form Zori, using clay extracted from the marsh. She built their body with great care, spending months making sure the form was exactly how she wanted it to be. Tyrell then gave Zori life, funneling her own powers into the small being. Anja sees Zori as an extension of the marsh, a living, if not breathing, part of it, and protects them fiercely.
